Bosnia and Herzegovina has many beautiful rivers. Staying in one of the camps alongside the river and rafting downstream is one of the best ways to enjoy the countryside.
The Neretva river near the town of Konjic is ideal for a family or company field trip during the summer months.
The river Tara near the town of Foca is the border between Montenegro and BiH. This is located in a canyon which is up to a 1.3 kilometers deep, only topped by the Grand Canyon. Only this canyon is completely covered by woods, has many springs and is a hikers paradise.
Both rivers have drinking water quality and are a great alternative to the summer heatwaves at the coast: water will never get warmer than 15 Celsius, so you better get a diving suit to go for a long swim.
BiH hosted the 2009 Rafting World Champs with teams from over 30 countries competing.
Other great rivers include Una and Vrbas in the Northwest. Leave a Comment
