I have seen a lot of statuary and this is the first statue I have ever seen of a goat. I did not know what it meant but the slogan is "Cijela Tuzla jednu kozu Muzla." It meas "All of Tuzla drinks the milk of one goat."
Apparently some time before WWII Tuzla was overrun with goats and they were damaging to the environment.
The town decided to kill them all but one was hid successfully. When the town discovered they had no ready supply of milk the one that remained was brought out and bred. The story goes that all goats in Tuzla are descendants of this one goat.

This is the monument to a group of children who were killed by a shell during the war in the early 1990's. This monument is on the exact spot where this happened. It is a sad monument to commemorate young lives whiich were snuffed out because of hatred.
It says:
Oudje se ne zivi samo
da bi se zivjelo
Ouje se ne zivi samo
da bi se umrlo
Oudje se i umire
da bi se zivjelo
One does not live here only
in order to live
One does not live here only
in order to die
One dies here
in order to live

If you're a history buff, there's a necropolis fo Bosnian medieval stecaks (Bogomil period tombstones)... If you need directions, go to the hospital (well, not TO THE hospital!) and ask for Gradina hill and stecak [staychuck]

Well, if you want to see some natural beauty, go to Ilincica (Ilinchitza), the hill above Tuzla, or to A town nearby, called Gradacac (Gradachatz) to lake Hazna. In Gradachatz you can also see the old house of one of the most famous Bosnian beys Husein or Dragon of Bosnia as they called him who rebelled against the Turks and was executed by them. Also, another lake called Snjeznica is very beautiful and is about an hour away from Tuzla by car.
Also, try to go to Zlaca (Zlacha), also around 45minutes to an hour away, a very beautiful place to have a picknick. This is where a lot of people from Tuzla go to celebrate May 1, international workers day, by having barbecues and picknicks. This picture is from around Zlaca

This is like the outside of Tuzla, it's Tuzla just not the Center of the city, it's more like right when you come to the city. That's the view that you get.

No one really goes to the outside cafes in the rain (as you can tell from this photograph) but all the chairs and tables are still left outside.

Many people never go exploring out of the 'valley' of Tuzla. Go up and about the hills, preferably with a Tuzlan so you don't get lost. :-)
