the danovists tents

Petar Danov (1864-1944) known also as Beinsa Douno is the founder of the doctrine of the White brotherhood and owrshiper of the Sun.

In 1929 Petar Danov and his disciples came here and made a camp at the second lake. From then on the Seven Rila Lakes are considered sacred for the disciples of Danovism.

Every summer, on August 19, a lot of pilgrims from the country and abroad gather around the lakes believing that on this date the energy from the Universe reached its highest positive peak.

Early in the morning danovists welcome the rising Sun with a ritual dance called paneurhythmia and sing songs hailing the Sun. Then they sit to feast on a common table served with vegetarian food.

The link below will give you some more info on the Danov's Bratherhood.
