Sea Park - Morska Gradina, Burgas
The top part of the Sea Garden, overlooking the Old Beach and the Bridge, is dotted with various classical-style sculptures and busts of local and national notables. If your tastes are more contemporary continue down past the open air theatre where you'll find some interesting modern pieces by native artists.
Most have plaques with the works' titles and artists but on my visit these were covered with snow!
Bulgarians certainly seem to take pride in their public parks and gardens and here in Bourgas the main park is the Sea Gardens (which Varna, of course, has too!). Not having a lot of time to spend here in the city I only had a brief wander but was impressed by the well-kept and various displays of plants along with the multitude of interesting statues of local notables.
The Sea Gardens overlook the city's beaches and pier and are dotted with little cafes and restaurants, which apparently the locals call "kapani" which translates as "traps". These certainly are "traps" in the sense that they are too tempting to stop off at for a beer and a snack (which is why this is such a short tip!!).
That's my favourite place in Bourgas. It's huge, there are a lot of monuments, statues, flowers, cafes and it offers great views of the sea. It is narrow but very long as it is situated along the beach. There is an open-air theatre and a small stage.
