The Basilica of St Sophia, also known as "The Old Metropolia", was built between the 5th and 6th centuries.
It now represents a focal point of the town, surrounded by souvenir stalls and cafes. Leave a Comment

As can be seen from the photograph, many of the houses in Nessebar, (and other Bulgarian villages too), are built in this characteristic style.
The lower floors are built from stone while the upper floors are built from wood.
The reasoning behind this is that food is stored downstairs, kept cool because of the stone walls, while the inhabitants live on the upper floors. Leave a Comment

Down on the Beach there's a couple of guys that are doing Parasending for naive, mad or thrill seeking tourists. And I think I'm a mixture of all 3. For someone like me who doesn't like heights this was a lovely view of the beach, sea and tiny little people looking up and laughing at the crazy englishman.
