Ribarska Sreshta (Fisherman's Meeting): Definitely A Local's Restaurant

    Due For A Revisit!

I had fancied a seafood lunch here in the Old Town overlooking the sea but none of the terraced restaurants seemed to be open on the early May lunchtime that I was here and so I opted for a quick lunch at this busy little restaurant in the square beside the bus stop.

Favorite Dish: Unfortunately I only had about 45 minutes before my bus back to Bourgas and didn't really peruse the menu properly and so missed out on the little fishes the couple of guys in paint-spattered overalls received just after I had ordered my shopska salad with bread and (of course!) beer. The salad however was a perfect representative of its species with tangy sirene, luscious tomatoes, cucumber that tasted of cucumber, a good sprinkling of roasted red pepper and just a hint of spring onion and so was thoroughly enjoyed. Doubly so for the fact the bill was only 5 Leva!

    Shopska salad

Bulgarian cuisine tends to be oriented toward meat and potatoes, but vegetarians needn’t worry as several of the more popular dishes are cheese-based. The national dish is shopska salad, a tasty mix of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions (and occasionally roasted peppers) topped by sirene, white brined sheep cheese. Another distinctive salad is snezhanka, consisting of yogurt, cucumbers and garlic.

Favorite Dish: Barakuda Restaurant offers wide range of dishes with fishes, chicken meals, grilled meat or fishes, salads and pizzas. You can easily talk in english.
It's very niece place to rest a little from the sun, eat delicious food and drink wine.

  • Neptune: Oh! The view !!

The view from the restaurant terrace is great ... but you can't see anything at night, so go there for lunch instead !!

Favorite Dish: I had fish, which I think they called "little blue fish" was very good. Also tried the carmelized bananas, which were ok - nowhere near as fab as the bananas at Viatarna Melnitza.

    The Diamond's star
In this restaurant there are very good foods for cheap prices. The waiters and waitresses are friendly and fast. These sings are great but why this restaurant is better than the others is the music and the singer. There are the best bulgarien songs and the singer women is the friendliest people who I've ever seen. She has a special singing voice and she is amazing. Everybody likes her. She is a star hier. The children follow her when she is singing and seeing her kindness. She is always smiling and try to communicate with all guests what the guests really likes. I know it because this singer amazed me and my two younger sisters. We danced with her a bulgarian dance and it was fantastic but we are hungarian. I can propose these experiences to everybody. I'll never forget this time!!! Thanks for everything RESTAURANT DIAMOND AND THE SINGER WOMEN

Favorite Dish: I don't have favourite foods but there are a lot of great foods. For example, meats, salads, seafoods, ice cremes, pizzas, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks..... If you go there you will find the best food for you!!

  • Viatarna Melnitza: What a show !!

    by kathy_and_ej Updated Oct 22, 2004

The service at this restaurant is great. The waiters make the evening fun, and there is a folkdance show to watch if you like. Interior is traditional bulgarian style.

Favorite Dish: Definitely try the caramelized bananas for desert. Not just because the waiter sets them on fire, and puts on a fabulous show making it at your table, but they taste fantastic !! If you have a brandy, they also make a big show of warming up your snifter !!

If you are a foodie, do not miss this place! Really creative dishes, wonderful combinations of flavors, plus beautiful presentation and excellent service. The chef here, Deyan Dimitrov, is gifted.

Favorite Dish: All were good, but probably the gnochi infused with squid ink.

  • Mehana Neptune: Great View and Food

by BistritsaYank Updated May 10, 2010

A great view and atmosphere from both inside and outside dining rooms. Prices were higher than mehanas in the countryside but very low for a resort area such as Sozopol. I wish we had been as lucky in Nessebar or Golden Sands.

Favorite Dish: Red Mullet- the whole fish were delicately fried to perfection
