Nesebar is one of the oldest towns in Bulgaria. You will find this seaside town, 38 km north-east of Burgas. It have a population of 8600. With the narrow cobblestone lanes, old houses with wooden bay windows and external staircases lend a unique romantic atmosphere to the town.

One of the oldest cities in Bulgaria is Sozopol - "The town of Salvation". It dates back to over 2600 years ago when greek settlers first founded the city of "Apollonia". Sozopol have plenty of old wooden houses. Most of the old wooden houses there are National monuments and owners are not allowed to make any re-constructions. The architecture is called "Black Sea house" with stone-walled basement and a wooden 1st floor.

Take a boat trip on the Ropotamo river in the Ropotamo Reserve. The River Ropotamo has a diverse landscape ranging from cliffs and forests to sandy beaches, dunes and swamps; the Arkutino swamp is a shelter for many rare bird species.
This is a nice and relaxing alternative from the beachlife in Sunny Beach.

From Sunny Beach you can actually see the old ancient town of Nesebar. A trip there during your stay is really recommended.

During my stay in Sunny Beach I took a two days bus-tour to Istanbul in Turkey. I can really recommend to take that tour if you have the chance.
