The Stone Mushrooms are situated on the east of the village actually you can see them from the road. If you have problems finding the place go back to the Beli Plast village and ask, the will give you directions.
The rocks cover an area not larger than 300 sq.m. They are in the shape of mushrooms. The base has a pale rose shade while the top is a kind of greenish. They are about 2.5 m high and have about the same width.
You can go and have a look if you are around but it will take you no longer then 10 minutes. So, do it only if it is on your way to somewhere, otherwise you might feel a bit disappointed from travelling about 30 km just to see a couple of rocks :)
Warning: Watch out for snakes.
I can only tell you how to get there from Haskovo by car because this is how I did it :)
So, you take the main road from Haskovo to Karjali and you drive along for about 15 km. When you reach the sign for Kozlets village turn left and drive about 10 km. If you did it right you should get to Beli Plast village.
Tatul is a village near Momchilgrad,on 48 km far from Kardzhali. It’s a little far,but worth to be seen if you spent some more time there. In 2000 archeologists discovered an ancient Thracian tomb near it. The site is the sanctuary and tomb of an influential Thracian leader who was deified after his death. He also links it with the cult of Orpheus.
You will find Tatoul at about 14 km east of Momchilgrad.
Tatoul is a small village in the eastern Rhodope mountains. The surroundings will offer to you incredibly beautiful view and the village itself is picturesque but very poor.
What is notable about Tatoul is the Thracian tomb situated next to the westernmost houses of the village. It is also known as the Orpheus Shrine.
What I found surprising that almost nobody spoke Bulgarian. If you happen to know Turkish you will have no communication problems there.
