On the outskirts of Svishtov, on the road leading to Ruse, you will find interesting ruins of a Roman garnison on the banks of the Danube river. Remains of the main buildings are visible on both sides of the road, and you get the excitement of being one of the few visitors to a site which has still much to be excavated. The town is building a modern museum close to the site, which I guess will open its doors at the beginning of 2006.
