The Crown Bar: The Local

by paddyk7

The Crown is a relatively new bar in the centre of Bansko. Its was in effect our local when we were in Bansko, since the Dream Apartments that we stayed in were less than 2 minutes walk away. Really good place to get dinner and a few drinks. Unlike many of the other bars in the town it closes early enough, around 1 or 2 a.m. Really good service here. The waitresses, Viki (with the tattoos) and Tanya (I think) were great craic, and always kept a drink in front of us. There is a games room there too, with brand new pool and foosball tables.Highly recommended.

Amigo's: Dancing on the Bar

by paddyk7

This was one of the stops for the Pub crawl on our second night there, and what a time we had. Alas, we had to settle for Tuborg, but the cocktails were good. But it was when Up the Ra (the IRA, that didn't sit too well with the English people in our group) came on that we went mad, we danced on the bar for what seemed like an age, and the barmen didn't care. The barmen were cool. Flaming cocktails lit with blowtorches, juggling bottles, allowing us behind the bar to show them how to pull a pint of Guinness. They were nuts, the main reason we went there. On the website below, in the photo of the 3 barmen, the guy on the right (sorry, can't remember his name) was our favourite. Cool guy! No dress code that I know of.

Underground: Clubbing in International Communities

by DefectiveLimousine

The American University in Bulgaria's International Student body like to hang out at this particular Club. The UnderGround is situated in the main walking district of Blagoevgrad and will accommodate any travelers from any country during the school year. Be prepared to smell like smoke and liquor. It is very dark and usually very crowded, so it really won't matter what you wear.

Satchmo Boy Jazz Club: Jazz spot

by fierydormouse

This was such a funky little place for a drink after dinner on our first night in Sofia. "Alexanderoff Ragtime Band" were playing that night - really trad jazz stuff, which my husband and I love. Thier first number when we arrived was Satin Doll and we knew it was going to be our kind of place...It is a little labyrinthe of interconnected rooms. The band were in one of the rooms with literally only room for about 6 seated punters in the same room - a bit close for some perhaps but you could sit in another room if you preferred and still hear well. We chose to sit with the band but as I say you didn't have to. Very reasonable drinks prices and friendly service. There was a cover charge of I think 5 lev to get in - less than £2. I think they serve food too but we had already eaten so don't know what that was like. We stayed til about 1.30am I think the band finished about 1am. A great end...

Borovets: Skidoos

by cyprus4holidays

Make sure to take the Skidoo trip through the forest in the evening.Wrap up warm as it is extremely cold, speeding through the snow in minus temperatures. Very exhilerating for all of us! Lots of layers - pile on the thermals.Make sure your gloves are warm enough as your thumbs go numb!

At the Movies ...

by keeper7

Most of the movies are american, with Bulgarian subtitles, movie theaters are everywhere & tickets are very cheap by western standards. The theater themselves are very comfortable and clean,I saw Sweet Home Alabama in Kazanlak for 3.78 leva ($2.28 USD) for 2 people! The price is as of 2003. Everyone in Bulgaria dresses casual, mostly the women.

Sunny Beach.: Anything goes....

by Melaniejayne

All along Sunny Beach, while you are enjoying the veiws, people will run up to you and thrust flyers of their busy clubs into your hands. We came home with nearly as many of those as we did our luggage!!We are not night club kinda folks, but we know some are. You will never have to visit the same club twice, even on a 2 week holiday. You will find bars, casinos, nightclubs aplenty... And for the voyuer in us all, there is a Playboy nightclub, which also seems to do a roaring trade in the daylight hours.Still, be sure and keep your wits about you, the pick pockets are just as brazen here too!!

Bulgarian nights

by simonbuckle3

Along the sea front are multitudes of bars and restaurants. They all offer different types of entertainment too many to mention. In general the nightlife is what you want it to be you can relax at your hotel eat out or go for a drink at most times of the night or if you prefer clubbing ther are several nightclubs or exotic clubs whichever takes your fancy.Drinks and food are very cheap so you will not need a lot of money to go and get drunk if you choose to. None that i noticed

Well well well BJ's is excellent. Its situated in the Hotel Peralik and offers a great night - with dancefloor, pole (for dancing lol) and lots of happy hours. No dress code is aqquired. Just come as you are, although not many people to opt to wear skirts or dresses - ITS SNOWING AND FREEZING OUTSIDE!!

Red Lion: Try the Red Lion pub, and have...

by Nobbe

Try the Red Lion pub, and have a pint or two.Sing some karaoke, or take part of the nightly 'Gladiator' competition. Two guys are sitting on a small bar (1,5 meter above the ground) facing each other. With some sort of a pillow (looking like the one the boxer train with) they will punch each other until one of them loose the balance and fall down. The winner goes to the next round. The one who have the best balance have the best opportunites to win. The one who try to use a hard big swing using alot of muscels will almost everytime loose the balance... It was really great to watch, and the cheering was loud. Come as you are.
