I must admit that I am a huge fan of the "In Your Pocket" travel guides. Most of them are even provided for free in PDF version on their website.
Unfortunately it was a bit difficult to get the latest print version of the Sofia guide, as we couldn't really find a proper Tourist Information Office in town. So we finally walked into the Hilton Hotel Sofia which is located right behind the National Palace of Culture and asked for a guide. The receptionist was quite surprised about our specific question, but he was more than happy to give us the guide.
The "In Your Pocket" guides not only provide helpful basic information, but also many off the beaten path tips and background information, which I usually don't find in any other guides.
Apart from that many of the restaurant reviews are entertaining to read.
Miscellaneous: We couldn't find the "inyourpocket" guide Sofia anywhere. And because we are fans of these guides we didn't give up easily. We couldn't find the so called tourist information center near the Sheraton Hotel. In the end we walked into the Hilton and asked at the reception for the IYP guide which they handed to us. It was complimentary.
Miscellaneous: Some pedestrian subways (for instance from the central train station to the tram stop) have lost their lightbulbs and are completely dark.
