Snow and Glacier Lakes in Summer!

by Teo72

Pirin Mountain in Bulgaria is exceptional not only for its beauty but also for its protected wild flora and fauna. It is a popular destination for hikers throughout the year and offers them snow-covered peaks, icy-blue lakes, forests and rare plant- and tree-life (including the oh-so-famous edelweiss).

want a photo?

by Mandy23

Maybe not really off beaten path, but I wanted to show you ;-) It's my friend Katrin in the picture. There was a guy in Albena who offered to take photos in the style of the 20's, 30's whatever ;-) So Katrin dressed in some of these old clothes and he'd take a black/white portrait photo of her and the photo itself would look 'old' like taken in the 20's for instance ;-)I know, it looks a bit funny, the old clothes and sport shoes *g* but the portrait at the end was really good!

Visit Bansko, it is a nice little village, there are a few pistes there too, and mostly just bulgarians go there, so the prices are lot cheaper than in the well known places. And if you have some extra money, stay at Hotel Bansko, it is a luxury 4 star hotel (only about $50us for two persons for one night) which looks extremely nice.

by marko727

THE HIGHEST POINT IN BULGARIA IS CALLED MUSALA PEAK, AND IT RISES 9,596 FEET (2925 METERS). HERE IS A BIT OF INFO ON IT FROM THE WEB: Bulgarian Rila Planina, highest mountain range in Bulgaria and in the Balkan Peninsula, and one of the highest ranges in Europe. A northwestern section of the Rhodope Mountains, it has an area of 1,015 square miles (2,629 square km) and extends for about 50 miles (80 km) between the Thracian Plain at central Bulgaria and the Struma River. It rises to 9,596 feet (2,925 m) at Musala peak and contains the headstreams of the Iskur, Maritsa, and Mesta rivers. Scattered mineral deposits include lead, copper, zinc, magnetite, oil shale, and marble (near Pernik). .....AND NO, I DO NOT KNOW ANY OF THE BOYS IN THIS PHOTO...
