Favorite thing: I found this map while I was walking around the center of Devin. As you can see from the map the town is not that big and it quite easy to find your way around.
Besides being small Devin is also quiet. After all it is mostly known as a balneology resort and it a kind of family oriented, so if you expect to find a vibrant nightlife there or endless parties and crowds of young people you will be disappointed.
Mineral water, fresh air, beautiful landscape and good starting point for touring Rhodope mountains - these are the strengths of Devin.

Favorite thing: It keeps surprising me that small towns have signs helping out the tourist to find their way to the local tourist attraction but one can still not find such signs in Sofia - the biggest city
and also the capital of Bulgaria... I guess the explanation is that it is much cheaper to facilitate with such signs a small town than a big city
So, when I saw the signs in English when I was walking around Devin I had this feeling again. I was also amused that they managed to make more than spelling mistake in tree signs. Click on the picture to enlarge it and you will see what I am talking about :)
On the other hand it is not that funny because the signs are the result of well funded projects and it means that somebody had taken good money for doing crappy work...

Favorite thing: Well, I guess this is what Devin is mostly known for among Bulgarian people - its mineral waters. Devin mineral water is specified as slightly mineralized, suitable for daily and widespread consumption, as well as for people who has an active life style. Mineral water is distinguished for its high natural and balanced mineral content.
There is a local company called Devin AD which main activity is bottling and sale of bottled mineral water, spring water and carbonated and non-carbonated soft drinks. The company is a leader on the market of bottled water in Bulgaria with approximately 33% market share. The bottled Devin Mineral Water is also exported in Europe, Asia and North America.
Devin AD was established in 1992 as a limited liability company owned by local persons and Devin Municipality . Since 1999, the company has been functioning as a joint stock company with 100% private capital. The company boost Devin's economy and provides jobs to over 220 people, which is of crucial importance taking into consideration the high level of unemployment in the region.
