Well, in my opinion it's the best place for a Rhodopean dish in this area. Everything is the best in it.
Favorite Dish: It's too many of them, but the local dishes are great
If you are in Smilyan, ask in any accommodation place for Garga Tourist trail or contacts with Mursalitsa Extreeme and Speleology Tourism Club. The starting point is just 6 km to the west from the village signed with billboard on the road side. Access to the major location is by a narrow rocky path leading you to Golubovitza 2 cave. At the entrance the guides provides you with special equipment that will keep you dry and safe. From the cave entrance you clime down to an underground creak and after a short wade upstream, board a small boat to pass through narrow section where water depth is above two meters and the space between the water serface and the rock ceiling is just 70 sm. After entering the spacious hall you are dazzled by the beauty of colorful pebblestones visible under the crystal clear waters.
You return the same rout to the cave entrance. The alpine trolley is just a few steps ahead being equipped with a safety alpine seat, you only have to make a couple of steps and oops! - you are already flying at a height of 20 m above Essenna Creak. Landing on the opposite slope you feel like doing it again.
From Garga Tourist Trail you can take a bike ride to another adventure. From the road you see the towering stone arch of KALETO PASSAGE cave where Mursalitsa Club guides await for you with another offer to find out to how far you can push yourself into the extreme. After being equippedq, they hang you on to the rope. and you start climbing up to stretch the rope to the full and then let it loose! The experience of flying freely forward simply has to be felt, not described! And the panaramic view to the Arda river valley from a "bird's eye" (literary) is something that you can experience only here.
You can also go on to the ruins of an early Roman fortification on top of the rock arch, that back in times guarded the ancient road connecting the town of Phillip Macedonian - Phillipopuli (now Plovdiv) with the Aegaen port of Bistonia (nowadays Avdira village in Northern Greece).
