    The old Chalet BALKANSKI ROZI

The hostel is at 1100m on the trail along Stara reka - from Karlovo – Hubavets to Levski hostel/mountain house and Botev peak.

I've never stayed here, as the buildings are deep into the forest just next to the river. Balkanski rozi is about 1 hour from Hubavets (3h from Karlovo) and it's a good decision if there are no places at Hubavets and no time for Levski. Outdoor bathrooms and sinks, electricity, a kitchen and a dining room are among the amenities. The old building is much more interesting, but it’s really very old. It was build after the wars (about the beginning of the 20th century) like a Red Cross summer camp for orphan children.

From Hubavets to B. Rozi the trail is pleasant. It goes through the typical for Central Balkan Beech forest. It is not so steep, as the Karlovo-Hubavets part.

The whole trail is well marked and actively used by tourists. In general I would not say it’s a dangerous place, but keep in mind you are not within a town. The Karlovo-Hubavets-B.Rozi-Levski trail passes through Stara Reka Nature reserve. Please, be careful and check the National Park web paje before your trip:

    Mountain house/hostel HUBAVETS

A nice place on the Stara reka. The chalet is about 2 hours from Karlovo on one of the most beautiful hiking trails in Central Balkan National Park. It's a good choice for one day trip or, you could stay here overnight and continue on the next morning to Levski challet/hut and Botev Peak.

Rakia is really good, as the chalet is popular here.

For more information on the trail – leave me a note or wait until I find some time to continue :))
