St Mina's

by ettenaj

This is the brand new restaurant purpose built in the village of Yunetz on the St Mina's Village Complex. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and have quite a good selection on the menu. The restaurant serves as a bar and also has a television area. It is situated by the swimming pool.

Trops: Easy to order here

by Tom_In_Madison

This is sort of cafeteria like. They have a wide array of food and you just pick what you want. Good thing about this is you don't even have to speak Bulgarian and you can find something you like. Just point and say 'da' when she puts enough on your plate. Pay at the counter. Wasn't a 5 star restaurant of course, but good enough, and inexpensive. Shopska salad. But you can find that salad anywhere and everywhere.

White beans - the bulgarian way

by desert_princess

Cooked white beans - Our national mealYou put about 250gr dried white beans into water for one night to absorb all the liquid they can. The next morning you boil them without salt ,throw the water and boil again. In a separate pot you fry onions in oil and salt, than add chopped carrots and red pepper , garlic and some water. When they are ready, add paprika , persil , dill , wild mint and savory/"chubritsa"/ add the cooked beans and tomatoes and maybe some flour mixed in water to make it more dense.Enjoy!! You can add grilled sausages if you like it with meat.

Thymian - Thymus Serpyllum / Mashterka

by desert_princess

Thymian or Thymus Serpyllum is widely spread around the mountain cattle fields of all Bulgaria - it is used both for its healing purposes and as spice. As the flowers bloom , it covers the area with its sweet herbal smell. Italians add it alot to pizzas , but you can drink it in the form of infusion when you have a cold an especcialy by sore throat and cough. As a matter of fact it tastes great and smells deliciously. We call it "Mashterka"and in mountain huts it's one of the favorite herbs 4 a tea. Try Mashterka tea with honey in the cold long winter nights - something good for your body ,great smelling and tasty.

Fiesta Beach Hotel.: The best Manageress award......

by Melaniejayne

The restaurant itself, is part of the hotel, so I'm cheating, in a way.The food was very good, though. And the staff were 2nd to none. When Simon was ill, they went out of their way to entice him to eat, the chef made him tomatoe soup for a few days, as that was all he could handle. They give you a choice of continental and english breakfasts, and the evening meals were 3 course, if you wanted them.I really did miss my Sunday roasts though!

Shkembe chorba / Tripe Soup

by desert_princess

And this is the soup for the cold nights in winter.Made out of veal or pork tripe , boiled in salt water and adding milk afterwards , The Schkembe chorba is one of the most popular National Dishes. To improve the taste ,you add hot chilli pepper and a mixture of Vinegar and garlic ,making the whole experience very hot and spicy - the way we bulgarians like it.You might find the taste strange , but we are perfectly used to it.It is known to have a positive effect against heavy hangover when taken in the morning...

Tip Photo
Banitsa

by desert_princess

Banitsa is the most common breakfast of Bulgarians ,combined with "airian" a drink out of mixed Plain yoghourt and water. There are special Bakeries for Banitsa , called "Banitcharnitsa" , that were the most common type of fast food before.Banitsa is made out of puffy dough with an egg and feta cheese filling . Variation is Banitsa with spinach and rolled banitsa
