Visit the City Historical Museum. It houses few collections from prehistorical and ancient times until nowadays. Here u can see artifacts from the times when Dobrudja was inhabited among all by the thracians of the Geti tribe, by the the pecheneges, the early bulgarian tribes, and many many more. Here is one of the largest collection in bulgaria of late medieval arms

Also part oh the historical museum is the Ethnographical house, located right next to the "St. Georgi" church.

Open Mon thru Fri, from 9am to 6pm

the ticket for students is 20 stotinki and for adults is 50stotinki!!!!! if u want a guide then u pay 1 lev (1$=1.3 leva); It's very cheap, isn't it!

The museum has a nice website but is in bulgarian only!

besides the fresh air and the birds songs in this lovely park there are lots of dead trees which started its new lives. A local artist is spending his free time reviving those trees making them a wonderful tree art review.

Sunrise over The Black Sea - September 2007

Dobrich is the regional capital of the area stretching to the Black Sea. During visits I have been to Balchic, Albena Golden Sands and St. Konstantin & Elena. Each one is very different to the others. Balchic is developing facilities for wealthier tourists with new golf courses and a marina. Also there is the old summer palace of the queen of Romania and the botanical gardens. Albena is a family resort with everything needed for a seaside holiday in one area. It also has a bus terminus and plenty of taxis if you want to travel about, I found the taxi drivers particularly helpful and most of them had good English. Golden Sands is the brashest and liveliest and tries to cater for the clubbers as well as families.
My favourite was St. Konstantin & St. Elena, named after the church in the centre of the resort. There are hotels and restaurants to suit most tastes and budgets. There is a regular bus service to Varna or Golden Sands if you need more stimulation but the resort has developed from an old spar town and there are still hot pools and massage booths among the tourist stalls and cafes. I tried several of the pavement cafes and found the food mostly good and the Dolce Vita Italian restaurant in the Grand Varna Hotel was excellent. A great resort for older families and couples.

the gevrek bakery

in the very beginning of the street you will see a little bakery where they bake "gevreci". ..oh, they are so yummy-hot, taken right out of the oven. On the right hand side of the bakery there is a small "boza-djiinica". Here you can eat your gevrek with a fresh made "boza".

1 gevrek costs 0.30lv (1$=1.6lv)

the pottery

this is how the pottery workshop looks from outside; the name is "Chupi Kupi" which translates into sometghin like " If you break it, you byu it!". It is not so easy to break though. First time i wanted to buy something i was afraid it might be easy to break it during my travel, so the lady took one of the plates and threw it against the floor...it did not break. But she says also that if you break something you'll have to make a new pottery yourself under the guidance of her two sons, who create all these amazing beaty!

"The old Dobrich" is a smal "open-air" museum located in the modern downtown on the place where once upon of the time "Odun charshia" existed. It houses about 30 workshops where craftsmen practice their skills. You can see workshops for pottery, furriery, traditional costumes, traditional instruments; woodcarving, coppersmithery, goldsmithery and so many more.
