    Medvednica seen from Zagreb

Only a 30-minutes tram ride from the centre of Zagreb Medvednica (also known as “Zagrebacka gora” – Zagreb Mountain) is the huge forest area and offers numerous hiking trails, natural phenomenons, mountain huts and other options for being outdoors. It is very popular among the people of Zagreb, both during the winter months when it offers snow possibilities and escape from the Zagreb fog, and during the summer when the mountain offers refreshment and escape from the asphalt heat.

You’ll often hear locals refer to it as “Sljeme”, but this is rather incorrect since Sljeme is only the name of the highest point of Medvednica, at the elevation of 1035 metres.

If the day is clear Sljeme offers beautiful views of Zagreb, but also of Hrvatsko Zagorje (hilly region on the north) and even Slovenian Alps.

    Stabla, stabla & stabla
