If you're already there, don't miss visit to the museum. Entrance is quite cheap, 20kn for adults (2,75 Euro), students and school kids 10kn (1,5 euro).
Whole castle is filled with portreaits of the former rulers and their families. You can see a lots of stuffed animals and other hunting trophies, a large collection of various weapons (muskets, swords, halberds, cannons) and various pieces of armor. Furniture is genuine, wooden floors.... It's worth to see it all.
You can get on one large balcony (or it's maybe a terrace) from where you can have a great view on whole area and particularly on the lake.
But there is one restriction: Once you enter the museum you are not permitted to make photos in there.
After your visit to the castle, I suggest you to go down the road to get to the lake. It's beautiful. I like to go there and sit by the water. It makes me calm.
There you can take a tour on the lake in PEDALINA (I don't know how it's called in english but look at the last photo and you'll see what it is ;)
And I must recommend you small bar/restaurant at the shore of the lake, food is nice and not-so expensive....
From the terrace of the castle you can find a most beautiful view of the lake beneath the castle. When you come down to it, you can find many interestny things to do. You can have a drink or go for a lunch on a little restaurant, you can rent a little boat and go on a little drive on rhe lake, or you can just walk around it...
This room is situated on the first floor of the castle. It used to be a dining room, but later men used it for socializing after hunt. There are very beautiful hunting troffeys such as heads of deers and others.
When coming into the property of Trakoscan, apart from an amazing view on a castle, first thing you'll see is a little souvenir shop, caffe and a mseum. Museum is closed, but don't miss going into a suovenir shop. Besides postcards, pictures and other usual souvenires, there you can find a map of the county with all the castles and forts near, and there is a big number of them.
Trakošćan lake is perfect place to relax, take a walk, or simply sit on a bench and enjoy the nature.... I wouldn't recommend taking a bath....
Situated in the first floor of the castle, it's one of the most impresive rooms. Julijana Draskovic was one of the first educated women artists in Croatia.
This is the road that leads to the castle...it is really nice, and the views while climbing are amazing...
