Spaghetteria Toni: Wonderful Pasta
Stumbled upon this place after wandering around the castle for about 30 minutes, trying to find an inexpensive place to eat. We were surprised at this little gem and wondered why it wasn’t more popular than it seemingly is. I had some spaghetti carbonara and my mother had a penne with marinara sauce. (We weren’t feeling very adventurous.) For dessert I had something that translates into “caramel crème” which had a crème brulee taste to it. It was very good. Our total cost for the meal was well under $10.
Penatur: Fantastic pasta
We ate at this restaurant twice. It's a very good vegetarian option in Dubrovnik if you ask them to make the pasta without ham. And the pasta is excellent, some of the best I have ever had.
Favorite Dish: Cheese tortellini with lots of extra fresh parmesan grated over it, and the free bread that is served here with soft cheese.
I am a total fan of Italian food, I barely ever eat anything else, so of course, in 2004 I would definitely recommend spaghetteria Toni....but this year they are HORRBILE. Food is tastless. I hope they go back to quality not quantity...shame they used to be my favorite
Spaghetteria Toni: A disappointing hype
When I prepared our trip by reading lots of restaurant tips on VT I came across the Spaghetteria Toni quite a lot of times. We were hungry after a day in the car and decided to go here before exploring the old town of Dubrovnik. It was very crowded and we got their last table outside. Later people were queuing waiting for a table. Always a good sign but this time I wonder what's all the hype is about.
What a disappointment it was. Compared to Croatian prices in other cities it was not exactly cheap and the food tasted completely boring. I had much better Italian food in Croatia before at much lower rates. So listen folks, don't believe the hype. There are better places in town!
Favorite Dish: As far as I remember I had Spaghetti Carbonara. They were more or less tasteless.
Mirakul: One of the many pizzarias
This pizzaria is located in a small alley neighbourghring severel other pizzarias. The pizzas are fairsized and well tasting, however the prices for the beer/sodas are a bit expensive. All in all an OK place to eat lunch.
Spaghetteria Toni: Says it the best pasta in town, and could be right
We went to Spaghetteria Toni one night and sat inside, although they had tables out in the street too. The service was very good, and the food was really nice. It was good value for money, again taking into account that drink is not cheap anywhere in the Old Town. Both Toni and the waitress were very friendly.
Favorite Dish: We had pasta with Prawns & Tuna, and pasta with Salmon, both of which were excellent.
We also had a side salad which was very nice.
After our meal we had coffees and Toni showed his artistic side (see below).
Antonini Italian Restaurant: You can Miss this (skip it, go someplace else)!
There is a man that will convince you on the main street of the Old City to go and try the food on this restaurant. Don't be fooled, skip it and go someplace else. Food is bland, service is slow. If you are forced to go, order calamari which is the only dish that tastes okay.
Hawaii: Small pizzaria by the sea
This little pizzaria is lacated by the beach in Orasac some 12 km from the old town in Dubrovnik. Nearby the pizzaria there is a little beach and a little boat harbour. The pizzas here at very delicious, and not very expensive. The view from the terasse is really wonderful and its really recommendable to come by in the evening to enjoy the sunset while eating a pizza and drinking a beer.
Favorite Dish: Their Foccacia pizza is really delicious.
Italian Food: Pizzeria Mirakul
This is one of the numerous pizzerias along the Nikole Guzetica and Nikole Bozidareviza. They have few tables inside and on the street.
Good place for a lunch, but doesn't really have an ambience for dining..
Favorite Dish: The pizza I ate was excellent.
PIZZERIA MEA CULPA: MORE SAUCE PLEASE !
I have a confession to make - it was not my fault! Mea Culpa translates as "through my fault" in a prayer said by someone confessing to a Catholic priest. No - I have no idea either. This is a small and delightful restaurant that has lots of seating outside. I watched the 2 chefs making my pizza by hand. It looked great and smelled great. I had a beer while I waited and then took my pizza with me to sit in the main square and enjoy. It was delicious! However, there was very (very) little tomato sauce. The sauce that was there was to die for. Gorgeous, but too little! This could have been the PERFECT pizza!
If you do eat here, please tell them to use a little extra sauce. Otherwise it will be your fault - not theirs this time.

Italian Food: Get a decent waiters!!!!
Catastrophic pattern of waiter behavior. Just ask a guy a question, and get an answer with a scary face, get totally ignored, and finally cursing and middle finger, and "you find another place". As a Croatian (who travel a lot) I am very sensitive to image that we provide to a tourists,..
Afterwords, in forced communication with their PR, you can understand that the way of employing their waiters is strategic decision (they just dont care).... PR guy was rude, and obviously writing by himself lot of great comments around the internet....But big expert for english grammar, maybe missed profession....
Toni Spaghetteria: Best address for pasta in the old town
If you like pasta, this is the place to visit in the old town. They make an overall good impression and have a decent range of pasta dishes. Ingredients are fresh, some of the pasta is home made and the atmosphere in general is good. Seating inside and outside is possible, if someone of your group prefers pizza over pasta, they have a cooperation with a neighbouring restaurant.
The restaurant has gained a certain reputation, is recommended is several gudebooks and as of 2013 still run by its founder Toni. It is surely not the most luxurious restaurant but it doesn't make a cheap impression either. Overall very good and recommendable.
Favorite Dish: Had the Bucatini Dalmatino with marinated anchovies, rucola and olives. Afterwards, I found out that this is their flagship dish. It was 68,00 kuna (2013) with most pasta dishes priced in this range.
Mea Culpa: Best address for pizza in the old town
This restaurant has been a renowned name for pizza in the old town and though it has expanded its menu, its main speciality is still Pizza. The huge pizzas are available for prices between 50 and 75 kuna and are usually big enough to feed two. The guys from Mea Culpa have been very successful with their pizzas and have taken over the more upmarket restaurants "Lokanda Peskarija" and "Arsenal" in the old harbour.
That said, Mea Culpa has a rather cozy and casual atmosphere. You can find people from all classes and ages, though most of them are tourists. Though the place can get full during the summer season, it is easy to get a place at any night of the week.
Mea Culpa: Excellent Pizza & Pasta restaurant
This restaurant is in the Old Town, and is spread out across most of one of the old alleyways.
They do mainly pizzas and pastas but also have other dishes if that's not to your fancy. The service was excellent both times we went there, and the food was good value.
I wouldn't say it's cheap, especially the drinks, but nowhere in the Old Town was.
It's good value because the food is nice, and the tuna salad was absolutely massive.
Worth noting though that there are also a few other restaurants down this street so it can be a bit confusing as to which restaurant you're sitting at and we did see staff from another restaurant trying to steal customers, but trust me this definitely looked the best of them so make sure you sit at the right table.
Favorite Dish: 1 time we had pizzas which were very tasty, and another we had a Tuna Salad and a Club Sandwich, both of which were very nice indeed.
Konoba Atlantic: Italian
Probably the best Italian food I ate on my week in the Balkans, this place feels old fashioned, unrushed, and traditional. The pasta was excellent, the restaurant was empty, and the service was quiet, a little strange, but polite. It seems to be run by an old couple who have probably served the same food for centuries.
The biggest problem, unless you are staying in this area, is getting there. It requires a long walk or a long bus journey. But it's nice to get out of the crowds in the old town and see a little of how the real people here live.
