    This is the Pedestrian Bridge, the entrance to Dubrovnik Old Town, contained within the Old Wall.
    The story goes like this :
    Originally the drawbridge at the gate's entrance was lifted every evening. The gate would be closed & the key was handed to the pince.

    This was my last photo before I went our from The Old Town of Dubrovnik, during the day.

    The photo shows BIG Onofrio Fountain.
    Built by Onofrio della Cava in 1438. Later, it was damaged by the earthquake.
    You can have some drinks here. Where's your empty water bottle ?
    There is of course SMALL Onofrio Fountain but I didn't capture it in my camera.
    It is situated in Luza Square, where you could also see the bell tower. Close to Orlando's Column.
    Big Onofrio's Fountain is one of Dubrovnik famous landmark. It was built in 1438 (long before London !) as part of a water supply system from a well 12 km away.
    Originnaly the fountain was adorned with sculpture but it was heavily damaged in 1667 earthquake.
    Only 16 carved masks remain with water jets gushing from their mouths into a drainage pool.

    On that same night, I would be there again, with a Slovene friend. We had our amazing night time in the Old Town. It looked so amazing !

    Yes, get yourself lost in the Old Town of Dubrovnik. Walk the busy cobble-stoned streets/paths then walk in the streets where there's no tourists, just like I did !
    I really took my own sweet time in the Old Town.
    Bought an ice-cream & licking my way to some secluded paths...No worry, no danger.
    Some of the buildings in the Old Town are still lived by people so we can also see some activities like some women cooking, women hanging their clothes on the clothlines, etc.
    I would like to talk with them but no English was spoken at least to some women that I approached to...

    Feeling good!

    Somewhere on the southeast side of the city is where we saw this statue. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of it or the plaza in which it was located.

    Amazing views from the Old Wall. This photo was taken towrds the inland. We could see the hill surrounded Dubrovnik.
    The areas all along the shores of Dubrovnik are full of activities but the hill overlooking the sea is still not yet being ploughed upon...

    It was told that over 70% of the houses in the Old Town were damaged by the war. So, the restorations have been done wonder to preserve the sights & the colour.

    It reflects the sun light brilliantly !

    Another view of the city from the walls. The hill that overlooks the town used to have a cable car run. You can just make out the blue stantion from the old cable car operation.

    Dubrovnik's architecture is extremely basic in it's presentation. A walk through the Old Town will yield extremely linear lines both on buildings and in the street layout. There is no clutter, no signs, and no doorsteps, all so simple.

    The Old Town of Dubrovnik was ravished in the war of the early 90's. A lot of the town was shelled and it is since been restored for the most part. The layout is extremely simple, small, and managable.

    If they are re-constructed from the originals, then they are doing a good job to preserve the beauty in the Old Town.
