 | Dubrovnik Transportation | Tips 31 - 40 of 104 | | Popular Transportation | Miscellaneous Transportation Tips | All Tips (104) Since Dubrovnik is a pretty small town, I suggest you save your money and enjoy the beauty of the town, by doing a nice walk throughout the whole town. I know it sounds scary, but to get from one end of Dubrovnik (Ploce) to another (Lapad), it takes just about an hour. As its mostly sunny, and traffic is so jammed so often...why not?! Taxis are pretty expensive anyway, and buses are so boring... Leave a Comment Theme: Other |
Dubrovnik is "almost" isolated if this bridge wouldnt exist .. i dont know whether is a branch of sea (i gues it) or a river but its quite wider and looks very beautifull ...its the main entrance to dubrovnik coming from north Leave a Comment Theme: Bus |
To get to Dubrovnik from Athens, you have two options. One is to take a bus or train from Athens to Thessaloniki. From there, take the 8:21 a.m. train to Ljublijana. Get off the train at Zagreb. In Zagreb, you can either take a bus or a train to Split. From Split, you can either take a bus or a ferry to Dubrovnik. It will take about two days to make this trip. The other option is take a bus from Athens to Patras. From Patras, take a ferry to Bari in Italy. Then, from Bari, take a ferry to Dubrovnik. This option will also take about two days. |
Brsalje 9, Dubrovnik, 20000, open Saturday 9am-12am |
Ferries between Bari in Italy and Dubrovnik take between eight and nine hours. There are two companies which currently offer services between these cities, Jadrolinija and the Azzurra Line. Basic passage will cost about 49 Euros each way. Sleeping cabins are extra. These boats also transport vehicles. Before planning a trip to Dubrovnik, make sure there are ferry connections. Travel options drop off dramatically after October and do not pick up again until May. |
If you enjoy sailing with the ferry going from Dubrovnik, and north are a good alternative to the busses. You can get a ticket from Dubrovnik to Split for 120 kn (approximately the same price as for a bus) and get there in 8,5 h (the bus is 6 h underway). During the trip the ferry will stop at Korcula and Hvar islands with 30 min breaks each place. You can buy tickets at the Jadrolinija office wich is 700 meter from the busstation in direction of the old city. |
We wre informed that we had a public boat connecting Dubrovnik to Plat (our hotel location) and Mljet, but we had no time (and no need) to use it. I felt sorry, because this would show us the only angle of town we didn't see: from the sea. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat |
There are good links from Dubrovnik to most of the surrounding islands from the Jadrolinija ferry landing in Gruz (western part of the city), although to get to Cavtat (the beautiful town i was staying in, further east), you had to catch a ferry from the Lokrum ferry dock in the Old Town's harbour, near Ploce Gate. Tickets normally cost around 60KN return, and journeys take place atleast 3times daily. If leaving from Cavtat, there are more frequent ferries to Dubrovnik, and it is commonplace to get handed leaflets from allsorts of small companies running boats to the city. Getting there is never a problem or really a major expense, but just make sure you take note of the return times before leaving. A bus is another, slightly more rattling alternative to getting to and from Dubrovnik from Cavtat or vice versa. The views are pituresque over Zupski Bay, and the journey is only 20km. Bus no.10 runs hourly, and tickets are reasonable. Leave a Comment Theme: Other |

Cavtat is a good day trip from Dubrovnik. We travelled by car but if no car try the boat from outside of the old town gates. Avoid the bus as we met fellow travellers who said it was very crowded and therefore hot and unpleasant. You can spend some time on the beach and explore the old town in an afternoon.
