One thing we both enjoyed was the mixture of monuments and shops, common in almost all the Croatia, serving all tastes at the same time. But the old town's entrance in Korcula was the place in Croatia with the highest concentration of stalls, almost imitating the Muslim souks.
To evidence the differences, here the sellers were discreet and gentle, without any kind of harassment.

Traditional handicrafts like embroidery, woodcarvings and ceramics make good souvenirs. Tourists can reclaim VAT for expenditure of more than K500. Visitors should ensure that all receipts are retained after any purchase is made, as financial police do have the power to fine visitors without relevant documents. This is to prevent VAT evasion by shopkeepers. Shopping hours: Mon-Fri 0800-1900; Sat 0800-1400.

What to buy: There are a few women on Korcula island that make the famous Croatian lace. The stuff is most famous in Pag, but the stuff here is really good too. You can see the older woman making big and small designs, it's all very intricate.
What to pay: The prices range from 5 dollars to 50 dollars for a huge tablecloth.
