Augusta Insula, Zaklopatica: Great Local Food
You have 3 terraces to chose from and they all have a beautiful view on the ocean and they little marina infront of the restaurants and beautifull sunset. The family is very welcome and warm and do know a lot about Lastovo history so you will definetly have an opportunity to learn about long island history.
Favorite Dish: Their menu goes on about 6 pages, but you should definetly try their lobster spagetti with their home made tomato sauce which is very good, or a traditional Dalmatian style dishes "Peka" from lamb, fish, octopus, calamarie, lobster and enjoy watching the chef cook the meal for you. They have a great apetizers from musaka from home grown vegetables, carrpacio from variety fish.
I would definetly recomend this restaurant as one of great memories in Croatia and my sailing trip.

Although I ate with my host instead, Zaklopatica had several restaurants. The famous Konoba Triton as well as Augusta Insula and a few others. Most are seasonally open.
There were a couple places in Lastovo village, not open in late May.
Get a home cooked meal
Lastovo is self sufficient. In addition to kitchen gardens, most families have larger plots in the middle of the island (you'll see several below Lastovo village). Ask if your soba host will prepare you a home cooked meal. For less than half of what you'd pay in a restaurant you'll get their own vegetables, herbs, olive oil, wine and grilled fish.
Many families also sell their produce, olive oil, and wines or spirits.
Favorite Dish: The grilled fish cooked on a wood burning stove was great, but the vegetables were the star--fresh peas, fava beans, potatoes, swiss chard ("blitva"), broccoli were all amazing.
