Ploce is the end station in Croatia from the train line starting in Sarajevo and passing through Mostar.

We took the train from Mostar to Ploce. The fare was only 8.60 KM (around Euro 4.30) in September 2008. Currently there is a morning and an evening train from Mostar (Sarajevo) to Ploce.

The train consisted only of 3 carriages, one second class one and 2 first class ones. The carriages are old Swedish ones which had been donated to Bosnia. Currently, you are allowed to sit in first class with your ticket which I recommend as the seats are much more comfortable.

Unfortunately, not so many windows can be opened but surely you will find an open one in the corridor by the compartments where people smoke. So you can take pictures from there.

The passport control is on the train. At the border they change the locomotive and the conductor.

Please note, that when you arrive in Ploce and need to continue by bus that you turn right at the head of the platform and then right again and you are at the bus station.

The Ploce bus station is just around the corner from the train station. Outside along the building there is a post office and an ATM.

At the bus station you will find a time table, an information/ticket counter, a kiosk, a cafe, a public pay toilet (2.50 kuna for ladies/gents, the pissoir for gents is cheaper). The toilet lady is also responsible for the left luggage. Behind the toilet building there is a fast food kiosk.

We took the bus from Ploce to Dubrovnik which cost 63 kuna in September 2008. Please note that you will be charged another 7 kuna per piece of luggage which goes into the belly of the bus. This fee is to be paid directly to the bus conductor.

The journey from Ploce to Dubrovnik takes around 2 hours and please don't forget to keep your passport in your hand luggage as you will cross in and out of Bosnia during this journey. For the view of the fantastic coastline you best sit on the right side in the direction of travelling.
