If you don't fear the cold waters, and don't bother sharing a small pond with hundreds... let's go.
We didn't, and didin't feel sorry, because we didn't feel that hot, and the sights compensated everything.
Even the steep stairs were easy to climb.
Aapparently, (we left by car, from the top of the falls, but I don't know if there is an entrance there, or just a way out) there are two ways to reach the falls: by car, or by boat.
We did it the second way, and I think that is is the most pleasant way to do it. The boat ride is short and the landscape is beautiful. It's a pity we had no time to explore the upper lakes.
Everybody looks at the water, with good reason, but the park is much more than some beautiful falls and lakes.
The rich flora, and, maybe, the fauna (I didn't notice anything special) helps to compose the harmony of the site, and shades the way up by the falls.
Swimming is allowed in some parts of the park, like this one here.
Here is also a picnic area and a restaurant.
We were told that there is a small cave under one of these waterfalls where you can step in.
It would be nice to investigate a bit :)
This beautiful national park is a good place to visit if you are seeking serenity and peace. The waterfalls invite you for a jump and swim in the cold waters. You can see green everywhere, the songs of birds mixing with the sounds of water. You can spend hours here and I am sure you will enjoy every minute of it. Check out the official website for details on opening hours, entrance fees and details about fauna and flora.
Skradinksi waterfall is located close to the two entrances near Sibenik. It offrest nice surroundings for a walk along the footpaths and bridges. Closeby the falls you can take a two-hour boat trip on the River Krka and visit some of the islands.
One way to get to Krka is by taking the boat from Skradin. Skradin is located inland and was a flash point during the War of Independence. It was here I began to get a glimpse of the mixture of western and eastern ideas that come together in the Balkans. The boat ride up river made me realize what a diverse region Croatia is. The earliest boat up river is at 8 am. Be sure to get to Krka as early as possible - the crowds by noon are daunting.
During your stay in Krka NP you'll see few old ladies selling drinks in bottles and few other things that come from Croatia (Dalmatia). I would recommend you to try or to buy alcoholic herbal drinks (in cro.it's called RAKIJA)- ask if you could try TRAVARICA and also sweet almonds fried in water and sugar (cro.przeni bademi, bajame)!
Various flora and fauna make tourists to enjoy in pure nature these few hours and make them to forget dirty, crowded towns..Waterfall Veli Buk got name because of making a lot of noise and people who live near NP can really hear noise of waterfalls during the night.
Many people take a bath near the falls, its not possible to do it directly under the falls, but at the end of Skradinski Buk there is a large area where it is possible to swim around.
There can be some snakes in the water, but these should be harmless (according to the park employees)
Neposredno po dolasku ipred ulaza u Nacionali park zadesilo me olujno nevrijeme s jakim pljuskom i tucom.
There's more to do in Krka than just walking around and snapping photos. Be sure to bring your swimmers and you can take a dip in the chillingly refreshing waters of Stradinski Buk. You can swim all the way out underneath the falls, or just float around in the fall's pool.
After paying your Krka entrance fee, start walking on the path that leads into the woods. In roughly 2 minutes you'll be at the main sight, Stradinski Buk, and massive waterfall created by travertine formations on the river.
The park is large, and before and after the falls, the water flows slowly, composing some wide lakes surrounded by the forest.
With a different look, the landscape keeps attractive and peaceful.
It's a pleasant walk, going up from the bathing area to the top of the falls. Here and there, a watching point allows a stop to rest and enjoy the view.
We did appreciate them!
