Hvar Harbour, Hvar

Here you can enjoy your breakfast overlooking many of the wonderful islands, have a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, eat a good dinner, and so much more.
It is also one of yonder ferry from Split arrives, but there are also many other boats, Crus ships, yachts that perhaps is a celebrity.

It is a beautiful place to spend a few hours on of today.

Hvar Town's harbor are is a great place to while away a few afternoon hours. You can eat gelato, drink beer, stare at the clear water, watch deeply tanned people walk back and forth, and look up at the Venetian fortress and consider possibly walking up to it at some point.

The harbour area and the quayside is the centre of life on Hvar ,watch the boats come in and out ,have a meal or play football with the kids outside the Venetian battery. ( When i say football i mean soccer ,in Croatia American Football is treated with the contempt it deserves)

Something that I found particularly interesting to do was to take a seat on the waterfront promenade with a beer and a pastry and watch all of the ships come into port. There is a harbor manager guy that comes and greets each ship, hooks it up to electric and fresh water machines, collects his fees, and then ties the boat up. There are a lot of foreign boats coming and going, and you'll see some really expensive yachts.

The Venetian influence is evident in architecture of the stone buildings with their tiled roofs. It was an important shipping location for Venice. They add to the charm of the town.

This is the first contact with Hvar...It seems like it is an exotic place with all those palm trees and cafe-bars....Off course, first look falls on the legendary Carp Diem.
