On the top of (former) arsenal stands the oldest communal theatre in Europe. Built in 1612, entertained all people of Hvar, the rich and the poor. Well, they were not toatlly mixed up. Poor ones had to sit in the stalls, the rich ones bought themself a place in a box.
Interior dates back to 19. century when theatre was rebuilt. And shows are still held. When you visit the theatre, you may notice that there is a net under the ceiling. That's because the celinig is crumbling and it shoul prevent injuries among audience or visitors.
Standing at the harbour in Hvar and looking around you just won't miss a large building with a larg arched entrance on one side. It was built in early 16. century (started in 13.). It served as a warehouse for ''equipment'' for the local war galley.
Twice damaged in 1570s (Turkish invasion, gunpowder explosion), got it's present appearance in 17. century.
Today you can find there some souvenir shops.
