  • Beautiful Beaches and Coastline

Having no real beaches (at least at our sight), and with inviting waters, the artificial building of diving spots is the solution. Hvar seems to have good solutions, inviting lots of swimmers and embellishing the coastline, but we didn't see much.

  • The Fortress (Citadel)

All the comments are good-read... so pleasant for us Hvar-natives to see things with another eye - thank you all... We here see (the Fortica) more as a battle ground of our childhood, where some played the conqueror climbing crazily the walls, while defenders where throwing the stones - thanks God, no bigger damage than earning some bumps... • Hvar Specialities-General Food Advice

Good food (or "spiza" as the locals say) is an integral part of the Hvar tradition. Healthy, light, mostly boiled food (chiefly fish), seasoned with home-made olive oil and a pinch of herbs which grow wild everywhere, helped down with good wine - this is why the people of Hvar are so healthy and long-lived! What to eat: Hvar restaurants offer a...

  • Jurin Podrum

A small family-run restaurant Jurin Podrum (Cellar) can be found on one of the quiet lanes in the old part of the town. The interior is rather small, there are only a few tables. Try to get a table outside, it is much more enjoyable. The restaurant specializes in fish and seafood. I had a quick look at the menu. Enticing meals include risotto...

Great view, cozy place and grab a cafe during the day, nice place and go out at night, before going on to the example Carpe Diem Beach Club, which runs boat just outside the club. Good service and nice price! It seemed that there was not any particular form of dress code there. All different types of clothing, but perhaps not a cocktail dress

  • Kiva Bar/Nightclub

We wandered over to Kiva after dinner one night. We met a few local Croatian people who were totally friendly. We just chatted up with everyone and drank vodka / bitter (as in their lemon drink.. not bitters as in the USA) and had a great time. It was low key, we hung out on the stairs but I was having a blast. Totally casual

We were forced to wait in the harbour, under a bright sun. That's why we were pushed to the shades of the stalls lining the port, and offering a small variety of local products. Some perfumed bags were especially attractive to Fernanda, and business was inevitable... and cheap, thanks God.

  • Taxi

It seems really as if they do not have any traffic regulations on Hvar when sitting on the taxi. But one thing is that the price varies from a driver to driver, so a good tip is to agree on price before you travel with it. And another is put on security-belt!
