The ambience of the Restaurant is superb. It's decor is original and very attractive. It is run solely by Danni (not sure of spelling) and his chef with some bar help. Unique quality is Danni's music, during and after dinner he would sing and play his accordian, traditional Croatian music. It is the place where many Croatians dine and hold Birthday, Wedding etc celebrations. The atmosphere and ambience was truly indescribable! Danni His exuberance and sense of fun is contagious, he works very hard but it is obvious that he thoroughly enjoys his work and takes pride in making his guests happy.
Note - the restaurant is wonderfully situated but access is not good for anyone with mobility problems who does not have a car. The lane is quite steep (although a super and interesting walk from Makarska), at first took us 40 minutes to walk up but then only 20 minutes, as we got fitter.
Favorite Dish: We had a huge platter of meat - pork, lamb, Croation sausage and chicken - with salad, potatoes and bread, followed by fresh fruit, and later some home made local sweet delicacies. All the meat was excellently cooked. With hindsight we could easily have shared one platter. (if my memory serves me correctly it was about 240 kunar). There does not appear to be a menu as such but Danni discusses the options with you. I got the impression that he caters for most tastes. The following evening we just called in for a drink and for the music/ambience and saw a mixed fish platter which looked superb, wished we had not eaten earlier.

dont miss the merina fish and steak located just past hotel meteor right on the promenade.
We tried to get peka a local dish of slow cooked lamb and vegetables. They need 2 or 3 hours notice for this speciality so we had whitebait and schitzel. We went back the next night for the peka stew and found a reseved table with flowers, free soup ans scnapps and then the lovely dish specially baked came out in a big stone pot.Delicious!
Jez restaurant was also excellent, classy and upmarket.
Favorite Dish: Peka stew as described

Located near the Dalmacija Hotel. The staff go out of their way to provide first class service. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the different fish. he would inform the customers about various ways of cooking, serving etc. Quite an upmarket looking restaurant but not upmarket prices. Great food.

At first look Adriatik doesn't look like a rgeat place in comparison to the others surrounding the harbour in Makarska. However, once you've taken a seat and looked through the menu you'll find it to have one of the more varied menus around. We were getting a bit tired of the same menus in every restaurant so it was nice to have some extra choice even if it was still on the pizza, pasta, meat/fish theme. I had a great Lasagne, Penne Al Forno and Steak on our visits and my girlfriend really enjoyed the Pollo a Mozzarella.
The best part of this restaurant was the friendly service and cheap prices. By our third visit we decided to leave a healthy tip as it was our penultimate night and we liked the guys so much. A £5.50 tip was around 40% of the bill but I'd definitely say it was worth it to see the smile on the young waiters face.
Favorite Dish: Located in the middle of the four restaurants at the far end of the harbour (Peninsula side) Adriatik does a good range of dishes that aren't all the same as every other restaurant in Makarska.
Other places we'd recommend. Riva, for setting, Jezs see my other review, and at least one night you should go and sit down on the beach with the sea lapping at your feet at one of the small restaurants on the beach side of Makarska.

Jez's is right outside the Hotel Dalmacija which made it ideal for us. A more upmarket looking establishment than the rest of Makarska, but without the up market prices you may expect.
Great food, good service and very attractive surroundings make Jezs most peoples 'last night' restaurant choice.
Filet Mignon very good!

To keep it short: Food was ok, but Service was super bad.
Favorite Dish: We had Riblji File (Fish Filet, 90 Kuna) and Kobasice Domace (Sausages, 60 Kuna).

No, we didn't go to Makarska. We were supposed to sleep there, but a small change in the program made us sleep in Split. But we did follow the coast, which seems to be the highlight of the area.
