Kaštel Lukšic - dvorac Vitturi
The Castle Vitturi, siruated in Kaštel Lukšic, is probably the most beautiful castle town which can be seen in area of Kaštela. Actuaylly, there are seven small townlets in a row with the same initial name of Kaštela situated on the seashore in between Split and Trogir.
The 15th century Castle Vitturi (1487), is built in the style of an Renaissance palace, although it has defending towers on the sides. The local people called Vitturi family as Lušici, probably after Lukša Vitturi who lived by the end of the 14th century. From that nickname later on the name of the place, Kaštel Lukšici, was derivated.
Kastel Gomilica is practicaly the suburb of Split, along with other six places starting with initial name of Kastel (castle). Sedam Kaštela, the Seven Castles, are located on the north seashore of Split, in the direction to the town of Trogir. The seven small but beautifull places compose probably the most attractive part of entire Split's riviera.
Do not miss none of it when visiting Split, it realy worth to see them.

I cannot say enough how nice the setting is and you can walk the whole length if you like. We walked the last 3 mikes that connect the last 3 towns and that is the closest between the towns.
It is to the north of Split about 7 miles and goes for 12 mile length. You can take E8 road and then drive down to each off that road, or take a road that connects to all of them along the water coast.
This stretch of the coast comprises seven separate, but connected villages/towns. Each has a population of 4,000-6,000, and the whole area totals about 43,000 residents. The strip is popular with tourism and in the summer many locals come here for the serenity and peaceful atmosphere.
BAck even in Greek era this was a string of ports for commerce. Romans used it for the same purpose, and made floating harbors there. Later is became a resort retreat for the Croat, Hungarian and Venetian gentry.

The old olive tree in Kastel Stafilic (town of Kastela) is a protected nature sight. It has a very attractive habitus and is estimated to be 1,500 years old. Most probably it originates from south Italy or Greece, because it belongs to a sort which doesn't exist in these areas which makes it a specific curiosity.
