by acemj About midway down the Riva, you'll see the simple Dominican Church and its elegant tower. I didn't go inside, but more than anything, the tower gives the island of Trogir a nice balance and adds to the medieval "skyline" when photographing it from across the channel. Above the main door, you'll see some interesting relief work that's worth a peek. Leave a Comment

by acemj Again, the word Riva in Croatian refers to the promenade running along the waterfront and in Trogir it is particularly peaceful and beautiful. The Riva itself is wide and accommodating to walkers and along the way, you'll be able to see Kamerlengo Fortress, the Dominican Church, the Town Gate and a number of lovely cafes to grab a bite or simply sip a coffee while watching the world go by. by acemj Along the Riva (the waterfront promenade) you'll find some remains of the town walls. Visiting Trogir is possible in one day and strolling along the Riva and soaking in the atmosphere is a must. The views across the small Trogir Channel to the island of Ciovo are great and you can walk across the small bridge to get the best perspective for taking photos. Leave a Comment

by acemj Also in Trg Ivana Pavla II, you'll find the Town Loggia and its interesting clock tower, which is rather simple in appearance, but certainly gives off an image of strength and solidity. The Loggia dates from the 15th century and is highlighted by a large relief of Justice with St. John of Trogir and St. Lawrence on each side. The relief is the work of Firentinac. Leave a Comment

by acemj Not to be outdone by the Town Loggia in the main square (Trg Ivana Pavla II), the Small Loggia (Mala Loza) is located along the Riva. It was originally designed as a night shelter for travelers arriving in Trogir after the city gates were closed and later became a fish market. Thankfully, the fish odor has long faded and today it is used to sell souvenirs and makes a nice spot to have a seat and enjoy the day along the waterfront. Leave a Comment

by acemj Trogir's main square is also a good place to begin your exploration of the town. The cathedral is located here as well as the Cipiko Palace, a Venetian mansion that dates to the 15th century. You'll also find the Town Loggia and its interesting clock tower and just off the square you'll find the Church of St. John the Baptist, which now houses a display of sacred art. by acemj Unfortunately the west portal of the cathedral, which is the building's most distinctive feature, was getting a facelift while I was there, but I was able to get a good look at most of the details through the scaffolding. The cathedral was begun in 1213, but the Venetian style campanile that you see in this picture wasn't added until nearly 300 years later. Inside, the cathedral is pretty dark, but you wil find some interesting paintings of St. John of Trogir, whose sculpture also guards the city's northern gate. You can also enter St. John's Chapel and the sacristy from inside the cathedral. Leave a Comment

by ivanab For me, this is the most beautiful building in Trogir. It looks fascinating during the day, and a little bit scary in the night. For 1,5 Euro you can take a tour around it and go to the top to see an amazing view. It was buildt by Venetians somewhere around XIVth century as a naval base for their army forces. Today, there are often movie nights and different kinds of preformances in it during the summer. Leave a Comment Address: At the end of Riva, you can't miss it

by ivanab This cathedral is one of the most known monuments of Trogir. It's tower is the highest in Trogir and you can climb it for the price of 5 kn. It is definitely worth seeing the view. And don't miss entering the curch- it's beautiful interior leaves you breathless and feeling deeply spiritual. Leave a Comment

Main square by FRONA Central square in Trogir, right next to their cathedral. Trogir is a remarkable example of urban continuity. The orthogonal street plan of this island settlement dates back to the Hellenistic period and it was embellished by successive rulers with many fine public and domestic buildings and fortifications. Its beautiful Romanesque churches are complemented by the outstanding Renaissance and Baroque buildings from the Venetian period. Leave a Comment
