duifferent places in town: souvenir shops
When you walk around the town in its old quarters, you'll notice plenty of shops selling typical tourist souvenirs - and among these there will be also t-shirts, paintings with Zadar themes, then also food and wine products, shells from sea, and usual paraphenalia. One may be also satisfied with offers of 'real' or forged antiques.
It's no shortage of anything - but as you wonder what to take home, it's always better to check the quality of whatever you're buying. You might end up being more satisfied with a book or an interesting stone from the sea shore you picked by yourself rather than buying something which will only collect dust in short while.
What to buy: Wine, olive oils, hand made soaps, cheese of Pag island, lavendel flowers, honey

fish market: if you didn't catch a fish, you can buy one here
One cannot get tired of fresh fishes. A little problem is that if you go fishing, you need to know where and when and by what... and you need a time. Plus maybe sometimes result is modest, or none at all, or you've caught something you didn't need.
Anyways, for those who like to prepare fresh fish and seafood in their own backyard - head straight to the fish market, next to vegetable and fruit market in Zadar old centre by the wall. Earliest gets the best ones, so it's worth to be there early. Later than 12 only the ugliest remain, if at all and soon after, there's nobody there anyways, just pungent smells.
What to buy: Buy any fish and seafood from the Adriatic sea, caught by local fishermen.
Zadar has the largest fish market in the wider area so the choice is great and the prices are little lowelier than in smaller towns. Worth considering if you're staying somewhere near and have chance to prepare fishes by yourself.
What to pay: Price depends on kind and size.
