  • National Park Brijuni - Istria
    National Park Brijuni
    by croisbeauty
A group of 14 islands and islets, "like green gems sprinkled on a blue carpet", located between Puka and Rovinj.
The call of the sea and the mild climate, the undisturbed natural balance, promenades and sports courts make Brijuni the prestigious tourist destination that they are.
Kings and emperors, princesses and princes, baronesses and barons and the rest of the European elite relaxed here in the beginning of the 20th century.
The thermal characteristics of the Mediterranean climate, adequate amounts of humidity and quite thick layers of red soil contribute to the growth of the indigenous and intoduced exotic vegetation. Forest are sanctuaries and the clearings are pasture-grounds for game: the fallow, deer, the axis deer, the doe and the mouflon. Around two hundred species of birds nest or periodically stay in Brijuni. Animals in the Safari park draw special attention: zebras, Llamus, antelopes, Indian cows, Somalian sheep, camels and the biggest exicisting elephant in Europe.

There are two names in use for this archipelago; Brijuni and Brioni, no metter which it is the same place

Vrsar is a typical example of a pitoresque Mediterranean townlet, located 8 km south of Porec, with a recognizable stony architecture and dense streets with arched passages. The group of some fieteen islets in front of the city beautifies the landscape with lots of green surfaces on the land. Koversada, with the coastline of 1 km, is the best known among tourists.

    Buje
    by croisbeauty
The city's historic core is located on a 222 m high mount, while the new borough streches along the road for Koper and Trieste. The dynamic relief, olive-groves and vineyards give the landscape its basic tones.
Buje managed to preserve, in part, the former defensive system, the walls, the Great city gates, the Western city gates, the pentagonal tower of St. Martin and the quadrangular tower. The worth of note is also the Municipal Loggia from the 15th century.
The Baroque-neo-classicist parish church of St. Servulus was erected in the 18th century in place of an older Romanes-Gothic eddifice from 13th century.

    Lovran
    by croisbeauty
A summer and winter resort located at the foot of the mountain range of Ucka, 6 km southwest of Opatija.

The natural peculiarities of Lovran are almost identical to those of Opatija. Here are the mild climate, slightly shorter insolation, and protection from the powerful gusts of the northwest wind that is known to rage with hurricane-like power in Kvarner in the cold part of the year.
