Quick service and tasty food, soft drinks. Roofed terrace. Easily accessible, located directly on the side of the road, good view of the valleys.
Favorite Dish: As you can see in one of the pictures, I feasted on a giant slice of toasted bread with lettuce and tomatoes. Could easily be characterised as a ploughman's lunch.

Small charming restaurant and wine bar just before the main city gate in the uppertown on the left hand side. The menu is creatively using local recipes and ingredients and this chef is cooking on a astonishing level. It turned out that he cooked in italy , france and ireland before and is some local tv chef in croatia. a good mix of fresh seafood, truffels , various mushrooms and all nicely prsented and tickling our tastebuds. you must try the home made paté with black truffels and crostini or the panna cotta with black truffles....good selection of wine , relaxed (not touristic) ambiance and music and above all we felt at ease and forgot about time......
we just entered for luch and when we came out 2 hours had past, after sightseeing we came back to barbacan and sat on the terrace, overlooking cobbly streets and the valley we enjoyed prob. the best chardonnay we've had in Istria....
Favorite Dish: the above mentioned but equally unforgettable was the home made ravioli with prawn stuffing and fresh black truffles in a malvazija sauce (local malmsey wine) or the homemade lukewarm chocolat pie with fresh vanilla-custard. Good filletsteak with truffled butter and excellent sea scallops with funghi porcini. even the bread was homemade!!

'Konoba pod Voltom': Fuzi, Tartufi, and Istrian Wine
'Konoba pod Voltom' restaurant in Motovun ancient small town in the inland of Istra. Old town is surrounded by walls and looks stunning.
Favorite Dish: My friends took me there and I had famous home made istrian pasta called 'fuzi' with 'Tartufi' (white truffles) which is type of expensive and tasteful mushrooms, and unique venison stew.
My friends had just an appetizer, very tasty prosciutto (kind of expensive for Istria, small portion 12DM). My meal costed around 30DM, also pricey for this area but I really enjoyed it. Food is expensive, but wine is cheap and very good. Glass of red wine is 2DM. Try 'Malvasia'. Restaurant is very nice and cozy, and you feel at home.

If you like truffle you should try this restaurant, sallads with truffles, pasta with truffles, meat, fish with truffles...very good
