Favorite thing: Besides the promenade of Lungomare, this section which is situated right in front of the hotel Palace is the most popular one. It is also the meeting point and the place where one can see and be seen. Do not miss to be here in the hot summer nights, when visiting Opatija, because it is the place where many beautiful girls passes by.

Favorite thing: Opatija is a traditional and highly-ranked destination on the tourism map of the Republic of Croatia, as well a prestigious destination on the signpost of western Kvarner. This small city, with about 10.000 inhabitants, has an enviable network of tourist activities.
Opatija was the very first to go in for tourism with a health and fitness slant, and now offers medically programmed vacations in a tradition maintained by Thalassotherapia.
It is a place with a large number of very quality hotels and most of them might be called the traditional ones.

Favorite thing: Yes, this is Adriatic the most beautiful and cleanest sea in the Mediterranean area. Since I am Croat you may considere me too subjective, however, this is not my opinion only. Most of my friends from abroad are the very same opinion too.
Fondest memory: The seashore of Adriatic offers numerous beaches where you can be all alone. This one is situated in the vicinity of the hotel Kvarner.

Favorite thing: We have booked with our travel agent excursions at Plitvice, Pula, Rovinj, Porec, Pazin, all of them being good occasions to discover beautiful places and nice people too.
The signs of just finished war were not so visible here...
I have to mention especially the city of Rovinj. It was a real gem discovered just by chance. We have promised to ourselves that we have to go back some time...

Favorite thing: There exist unique promenade area in Opatija. It is twelve kilometres long coastal promenade, from Volosko to Lovran, called Lungomare. The walking path is paved, in whole its length, and offers enjoyable moments of tranquility and romance.

Thanks to its location below Ucka, the climate is gentle with enough moister, and that is why Opatija is famous of rich vegetation and its parks. The bathing season lasts from June to the end of September, and winters are gentle. That makes the rest in Opatija pleasant through the whole year.

Opatija derives its name from from the old Benedictine abbey of St. James (Sveti Jakov)(opatija=abbey) an old chapel reconstructed in 1774 and expanded in 1937.
In Italian it is called Abbazia.
“Old dame”, “Pearl of the Adriatic”, “Queen of Tourism” ,'Nica of Adriatic' - few more names for Opatija.

Favorite thing: The coat of arms of Opatija pictures a white seagull with red beak and claws standing on top of a white tower on a cliff in blue field with blue and white waves in base. All is bordered in gold and with a golden ribbon bearing the city name in black below.

Favorite thing: Slatina is the oldest and the most famous beach resort of Opatija. It is located right in the heart of the city, along Marshala Tita Street, in the close vicinity of the most of the Opatija's hotels. Here you can enjoy in the number of aquatian activities.

Favorite thing: Rather than walk along the busy sidewalks, you may chooseto stroll along the beachside Promenade, a beautiful cobblestone walkway that extends from Opatija on to Icici and Lovran. You can walk the whole way along the sea side. It's lovely!
Fondest memory: By far my fondest memory of this region was the paople. I was greeted with warmth and treated well whereever I went. I made new friends with whom I am stil in contact and I do so look forward to going back there again soon!
