This nice villa was built in 1844 and completely renovated in 2000. Its first owner was Iginio Scarpa; a wealthy merchant from Rijeka. He gave the villa the name of his deceased wife.

The ground floor of the villa is open to visitors. It is a large room with beautiful paintings on the ceiling.

Around Villa Angiolina there is a park with about 159 plant species. There you'll see banana trees, bamboos and also various palms.

As early as 1906 the bishop of Trieste, Franjo Nagl, laid the foundation-stone for the neo-Romanesque edifice with its pronounced green cupola that can be seen from afar, but once again the departure of Austria postponed the completion of the building thet was designed by architect Karl Seidl.

An exhibition space named after the physician dr. Juraj Matija Sporer .Born in 1859 he suggested the establishment of a society for the constuction of Opatija as a sea resort and a natural health centre.
Just before his death hotel Kvarner was built and so his idea came true.

This church was probably built in 1420. Later it was rebuilt in 1506. It was renovated at the end of the eighteen century and it was enlarged in 1930. In the past it served as court trial and fairground to celebrate St. James' Day. Today concerts and weddings take place here.

Lovran is a seaside resort situated on the coast of the Opatija Riviera.

This village has a nice old core; narrow paved streets; several accomodations (hotels, private rooms and apartments); restaurants, cafes and shops.

Lungomare is a promenade built in phases in the Austro-Hungarian times; from 1889 to 1911. It stretches from Lovran to Volosko (or vice-versa).

Strolling along the Lungomare is a nice way to enjoy the sea; nature (rocks and trees) and to see some nice villas.

]Croatia there's no sand, so the swimming has been made easy by some artificial pools in the sea. The surroundings are lively and beautiful, but the rainy weather and late arrival didn't invite us to the water.

There's a look of cleanliness and preservation in all the town, that invites you to compare the architectural influences of its most beautiful buildings. There's no sign of war, there's no sign of difficulties, it seems that locals love their town. Yes, I know, we didn't leave the centre! But that was the dominant feeling we could have!

This was the first hotel opened to guests in Opatija. It was built in 1884 in ten months. At first the hotel was planned as a sanatorium for lung disease patients

Various events are held in its Crystal Hall; built in 1913.
