good food ,safe place,lovely scenery
Hotels are overpriced and not much to see but the sun and sea
A little bit of Monaco on the Adriatic.
There's a look of cleanliness and preservation in the whole town, that invites you to compare the architectural influences of its most beautiful buildings. There's no sign of war, there's no sign of difficulties, it seems that locals love their town. Yes, I know, we didn't leave the centre! But that was the dominant feeling we could have!more

The club is situated in the main street of Marshal Tito, right in between hotels Imperial and Bristol. It has huge summer terrace open towards the seashore. It is typicaly Latino styled club with hot music and very hot girls. The competition is great, the local girls are very beautiful so put on something sexy and provocative.more
...is a beautiful place to visit after dark. Street entertainers keep you occupied and vendors sell their wares. Lots to eat and drink, music etc., abounds, but you also can enjoy the serenity of the ocean...Now go to TOURIST TRAPS to complete the tour...(for while this is the beautiful beach at night...)more
To wonder around Opatija (if you don't walk of course) you can use public transport. Bus no.32 rides between Rijeka and Lovran .You can buy a ticket at the driver but you have to put it in the machine so that the date should be printed on it. If you don't do so and the control come you have to pay high penalty.more
Getting to Opatija - there are no direct boat or ferry connections to Opatija, but it's only 13km west of Rijeka, the starting point for the Jadrolinija coastal route. Local buses connect Opatija to Rijeka and there are frequent intercity buses to Pula, Rovinj and Porec where there are ferries to Italy.more
"Operetta" is probably the most beautiful department store in whole Croatia. It is situated in the heart of the town, right next to the hotel Bristol in Marshala Tita street. Here you can find a number of very good trade-marks, designed by the world leading fashion houses. No burgains here in the high season.more
I really admired this shopping centre . Beautiful building in two floors with sculptures, ornaments and splendid painted ceiling.Unfortunatelly a lot of shops were still empty (especially on the second floor) . The ones that were opened sell expensive clothes of known brands(Nike, Puma, Lacoste ...)More pictures here .more
Women sell their hand work along the Promenade. I bought a gorgeous knitted summer sweater for my Mother from this woman. As a stickler for detail, I was blown away by the perfection of her stitches! (So is my Mother!!) Of course you can also purchase smaller items, such as doilies or larger ones like gorgeous table cloths! Oops, can't remember,...more
On the promontory in front of the one-time cemetery a girl of stone extend her arm to a gull. This, however, is a new sculpture, the work of sculptor Car, and it was erected here in 1956 and turned into one of Opatija’s symbols. Before that, in its place, namely until demolished by a storm, stood the “Madonna del Mare,” the work of sculptor...more
Most probably built in 1420, as a colony of Benedictine refugees from the Friulian monastery of Saint Peter in Rozac (San Pietro di Rosazzo), the entire settlement will later be named after this abbey. Today very little has been preserved of its original appearance: in 1506 abbot Simun built or reconstructed the church, according to the inscription...more
We have stopped for lunch in a nice traditional restaurant where they have served very good food and wine, specific music and smiling sweet faces. Nice lunch anyway...I have asked them to sell me two bottles of wine, being impressed about the quality (very good home made, demi-sweet wine). I have paid the price they have asked and I was surprised,...more

I'd suggest not to waste your time in Veprinac or in Kastav. These are two Medieval villages, but there is not much to see or do there. Veprinac is a place with a two churches; a food shop and a cafe. Kastav has a big loggia; some churches, a couple of restaurants, a supermarket and a post office.more

As described before, the amount of tourists that hit this tiny town is unbelievable. Yes it is possible to get away from them, however, you really do have to make the effort! Just outside of town are rocky areas where you can lie out, tan or swim in the warm Adriatic. You don't need to go far! But do stake out your hidden spot early -- they will...more
Bathing suit is a must. Almost all hotels have
indoor pools with heated water so it is possible to swim also in the winter.
Konoba is simple kind of restaurant, very characteristic in whole Mediterranean area. Once it was a place for preserving fishermen's equipment, nowadays it was turned into a touristic gastronomy attraction. Here you can have genuine, home made food, such as seafood, prosciutto, chees and excellent wine. Do not miss that experience when visiting...more
In Opatija one can practicing a lot of different sports activities such as: water sports, tennis, footbball, paragliding, jogging etc.
The Lungomare promenade is perfect place for those who like jogging, it is several kilometres long from Volosko to Lovran.
If you prefer team sports, beach voleyball is right sport activity in the hot summer days. Just join to those who are already playing it, more people in, more fun.
Besides the promenade of Lungomare, this section which is situated right in front of the hotel Palace is the most popular one. It is also the meeting point and the place where one can see and be seen. Do not miss to be here in the hot summer nights, when visiting Opatija, because it is the place where many beautiful girls passes by.more
Opatija is a traditional and highly-ranked destination on the tourism map of the Republic of Croatia, as well a prestigious destination on the signpost of western Kvarner. Yes, this is Adriatic the most beautiful and cleanest sea in the Mediterranean area. Since I am Croat you may considere me too subjective, however, this is not my opinion only.
