Right outside the old part of town you have a big open market that is a combination of fruit and vegetable market and a market that sells more touristy stuff like jewellery.
It´s a good place if you want to stuck up on some fresh fruit for lunch.
Prices are resonable and the market is very colorful and right in the center of town.

There are few very attractive souveniers shops on the boats which are anchored in the port of Rovinj, offering lots of shells from the Adriatic sea.
Don't pay too much, remember, you can always burgain the prices.

In the afternoon, the market is still open and working. There are less customers than in the morning and it is easier to stroll from one booth to the other, among garlands of garlic, basket of tomatoes and onions.

Besides the greengrocers, there are also shops that sell various kind of liquors and spirits flavored with "secret" mixtures of wild aromatic plants, different kind of olive oil, ewe cheese, smoked or not. There are also shops that sell dried plants and flower for herbal tea, supposed to cure various illnesses.

In the afternoon, only the merchants installed under the covered market, mostly retailers, are still working. Those that were outside, in the open, mostly producers, are selling their own products only in the morning.

This is a wide known hot red paprika from Istria.
What to buy: This kind of paprika taste almost like chilli. I suggest you to buy it and take it with you at your home. When at home, put it on veranda to be dry. It is excellent addition for your winter season dishes.

The old town of Rovinj is the city of art, many painters and sculptors live here, many of them spend their summer holiday here. It is a kind of art colony.
One of the best art galleries of the town is situated in this little chapel at the main street.

This "no name" shop is situated on the road in outskirts of Rovinj. I was attracted by the hanging bottles coloured in vivid colours.
What to buy: Usually you can buy here a good home - made grappa (brandy) and wine. Be careful when drinking grappa, it is very strong.
What to pay: 5-10 euros
