The church contains Baroque altars, the altarpiece by Girolamo da Santacroce (Holy Trinity) and the painting above the main altar by Janez Subic. The church treasury shelters a Romanesque cross from the 14th century, the reliquary of St. Ursula from the 16th century and several Baroque chalices. On the main altar of the church of the Holy Cross, which was reconstructed in the 17th century, is a crucifix from the late Gothic period. |

Andrija with its three naves, built from 1830 on the site of a medieval church put down by the 1750 earthquake. The first photo was taken on July 2005. It shows the city of Bakar from the south, on the Jadransja Magistrale, the main road. In the background, another segment of the main road can be seen. The second photo is a close-up on the gigantic chimney that stands on the outskirts of the city. This kind of "monument" does not bring many tourists ! The third photo is a close-up on the quays and the small harbor. This is the parts of the city called "Zagrad" and "Primorje". This landscape is much more appealing ! Leave a Comment |
The present day appearance is the result of numerous reconstructions and adaptations. The irregular trangle-like foundation of the Castle can be dated back to the 16th century. There was no investigations of previous phases so far. A more regular triangle-like ground-plan can be noticed at the southern two-storey residential part of the Castle, probably made so in the 17th century. The northern front of the Castle is also of interest. |
