There are some great hiking routes from Baska, suitable for all ability levels. The tourist office on the main road into the town centre will be able to provide walking maps free of charge, our you can download one from their website at http://www.tz-baska.hr/lang-en/mape.
On the map, each route is colour coded and these colour codes match the way markings on rocks, signposts, etc.
My favourite route is from Baska beach front up to the highest point on Krk Island, Obzova (568m), and then down to Draga Bascanka, about 16km.
On route you get great views of the Croatian mainland and other islands, as well as Krk Island itself. The limestone plateau upon which Obzova stands is stunning.
In fact check the route out first at http://www.virtualmountains.co.uk/krkisland/index.html.
When you do the real walk, take plenty of water and wear sturdy footwear as the rocky terrain is tough going.

Baska beaches, great and small
A special feeling that remains in your memory for the rest of your days.
Baska abounds in beaches, some thirty pebbled beaches accessible to swimmers of all ages, while some of them have to be reached on foot or by boat. Still, the biggest and one of the most beautiful is Baska's Vela Plaza, the Great Beach, right in the centre of town, surrounded by bars, restaurants, pizzerias, cafes, hotels, private flats and other things all of which are an integral part of the place's attractions.
The Great Beach is a natural pebble beach, 1800 m long, which can take several thousand swimmers with ease. It's particularly suitable for children and non-swimmers.
Since 1999, the European Blue Flag has waved on Baska's Great Beach, today a trademark of Baska, as proof of the high quality and standards of the beach.

Baska bay is known as a place with 2 km small stone beach. Trough the summer a light wind is cooling hot summertime. Around the bay are a lime stone mountains.
Often, you will hear about sandy beach, to be honest there's no sand but the small stone beach is nice and big.

Baska caters for sea lovers as well. It has ideal conditions for underwater activites, water skiing, surfing, banana lifts. Besides marked walking paths, Baska has sports grounds: football, table tennis, tennis and mini-golf can be enjoyed at the sports centre. But don't forget to make an excursion on the hills for a unique landscape.

All around you'll notice a wonderful Mediterranean vegetation: many pinewoods and, my beloved, olive tree!
Great smells!

The town of Baska is a really nice fisherman's old town.
Many white building and typical sea mediterranean atmosphere.
It recalls to my mind the south of Italy.
