It is not known when it was built, but from the Vinodol code it comes out that it belonged to the Frankopan family as early as 1288 and it preserved its original looks until 1761. After the execution of Franjo Krsto Frankopan and Petar Zrinski in wiener Neustadt in 1761, their properties were given or leased to other feudal lords. In 1685 Hungarian...

The islet of "San Marino", coloquially called also "Islet of Love", is about 100 meters far from the mainland. There is a cute little chapel of Holy Trinity and St. Martin. Actually, the islet has homonymous name, Sveti Martin, but the locals pronounced it as San Marino. We used to collect fragrant flowers of Lavanda here.

Novi Vinodolski Nightlife

  • Drink hard

Captain's Club and Harley-Davidson Pub stands side by side into the harbour of Novi Vinodolski waiting for those who like to drink hard. It is probably the best place in the town to spend hot and thirsty summer night sipping a cold "Karlovacko" and enjoying in pure rock n' roll.

  • Nightlife in Novi

Eversince I was a little boy, it was the place where we have watched the people dancing. We were not allowed to step inside the dancing area, we used to seat on the sidewalls loudly laughing the starnge movemnts people did. The terrace of the hotel is very close to the coast and in the hot summer evening times it is refreshed by the sea-wind.

  • The Stone house

This is one of the oldest of a kind left in town nowadays, and it is partly in the ruins. Most of the locals have built new modern houses and the old ones are deserted now, especially those in the northern part of the town in area called Krasa.

  • The pink rocks

To those who prefer rocks instead of Kupalnica sand, I suggest this interesting coloured roks next to the Kupalnica. The colour of the stone, which is natural so, looks spectacular in the bright sunny day right after the rain.

  • The rocks in the water

Unusual rocks in the water but great beach resort because where the rocks are the water is very clear. Exploring this rocks and underwater world around might be great experience. Years ago, there were a lot of fish and schells here, however, the rising tourism have changed it.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Bring your nicest, trendiest duds if you'd like to fit in. Difficult for this small-town Midwestern girl! The girls I hung out with even wore dresses to the beach. I'm a jeans & t-shirt girl, so I had to get pointers from my friend/hostess before my visit. I still didn't have it down but, it was a heck of alot better than I'd have done on my own!

  • Krcki most

When I was a little boy we went on island of Krk by small boat and sometimes that was almost an adventure. Nowadays there is a bridge connecting the mainland and the island what makes this trip much easier. However, due to a strong wind, sometimes in the winter the bridge have to be out of traffic.

  • Mediterranean city structure

Novi Vinodolski is, by its structure, a very typical coastal Mediterranean town. Its old core is raised on a small hill above the sea-shore with the church and main square in the central position. A short and narrow streets twist towards the harbour which was, in the past times, the only connection to the other places along Adriatic.
