You pay a pretty sizable charge to use the bridge-like $6. That seemed rather steep, especially since the bridge has existed since 1980. Not in the favor of tourists for a short day trip. Roads on the island can be rough and very winding. Besides that, a lot of areas was laying sewer/water lines, so only one lane may be open.

Take a boat tour, starting from the town of Krk and all over the island and its settlements. It is slow motor boat sand you'll be able to enjoy in the beauty of the landscapes and shoting with your camera.
There are also very small boats, in case the group is not bigger then five or six people.

There are regular boat lines from the mainland to Krk, starting from Rijeka, Kraljevica, Crikvenica, Novi Vinodolski... Also, there exists lines in between island of Krk and neighbouring islands of Cres and Mali Lišinj.
Traveling with the boat from and to Krk offers very scenic view at the beautiful landscapes around.

Ferry boat is the most convenient way of transportation if you want to visit island Rab from Baska. It takes about 45 minutes from Baska to Lopar (Rab). Enjoy one day trip and visit San Marino beach in Lopar and than return to Baska with the Ferry boat which goes around 5 p.m. (the last one).

This old looking ship runs every day from Baska to surrounding islands and islets. It takes a whole day and meals are included. Rare oportunity to visit Goli otok - infamous penintentiary for political prisoners in communist regime. I am not sure but think the price is about 40 EUR per person.

I went to Krk Island by bus from Rijeka. There are many buses from there to this island every day. They stop in various villages of the island.
