    Navigating into Punat bay 45' 01'N; 14' 37'E

    Sailing out of Punat bay

Narrow passage, pay attention to small boats and swimmers. Max. speed 4 knots.

Upon entering the bay, sail towards green tower, leave it on the starboard side, keep following green towers and proceed towards harbor/marina.
Island Kosljun (inside the bay) is safer to approach by leaving it to the port side, because the channel has some shallow areas.
When leaving the bay, green signals should be on your boats port side. YES THEY SHOULD!

" In the Republic of Croatia the International IALA A-system for denoting of sea-lanes is being used: Lateral combined with Cardinal.
Beacons in the Lateral System system denote the port (left) and starboard (right) sides of fairways and navigation channels, the port marks to be left to port, the starboard ones to starboard. Port and starboard are given according to the course that a vessel would sail INTO harbor, channel or river mouth from the open sea.
In the international system starboard side markers are conical; they have a conical top mark and are colored green. At night they show green lights.
Port side markers are cylindrical; the top mark is cylindrical and they are painted red. At night they show a red light."

North of islet Kosljun is safe anchorage even in stormy weather. Do not anchor close to shore, rather place two anchors in V position.

Wind Blows VERY Hard in the BAy

We came to the area during an overcast day, but not severe. Well, the next thing we knew is the little Citron we drove was being blown nearly out of the lane we were in. The white caps were definitely there. The picture does not accurately reflect the strong winds that effected our drive just south of Rijeka all the way to Krk in the south end of the island. I commented about this -in Hrvatski- to the toll booth person, who was concerned but indicated this happens often. The wind was especially a threat going over the bridge; you feel like you may get blown over the side of the rail

    cute kittie

Yes, she looks very cute while calmly sitting on the stone wall in the backyard of the church. Yet, when I tryed to caress her she acted unfriendly towards me, obviously tryong to defend her own territory.
We had siam-cat in my home, over eighteen years, becoming a part of our family. That is the reason why cats always attract me when strolling around.

    doggy

When in restaurants never try to caress the dog if eating (even small like this one). This cute little one was very suspected when I've took the place on the table next to his, trying to guess weather I have intentions towards his food. After he realized that am not his food rival, he became very friendly. However, as soon as I tryed to caress him, he became hostile towards me and pulled the food out of my reach.

So, since Krk is the highest Croatian island and very big, it is very suitable for hiking, it offers lovely views and landscapes. However, be careful, because if you are hiking in the summer, there might be a lot of snakes and dangerous insects, so be extra extra attentive! Also, the sun might be very strong and strike you, so wear the hat and sunblock! And lots and lots of water!

I noted especially in Krk that buses; like 6-8 while we were there make this a drop off point for a couple of hours. Being off season, I can only imagine how crowded it gets in the summer months
