Plitvicka Jezera National Park Things to Do

  • The Big Waterfall (Veliki slap) &...

We follow this boardwalk around a cliff right above the rushing waters and come right before the tall and misty "Great or Big Waterfall" also known as Veliki Slap. The water tumbles for 78metres and is quite spectacular! You need to be a little careful here, as it was a bit slippery from the waterfall spray, and if you go too close, you will...

  • Lower lakes (Donja jezera)

Kozjak Lake is the largest lake in Plitvice, and it is the one that connects the Lower and Upper Lakes together. Stefaniji Island, named after Queen Stefanija who came to visit it in 1888, is situated on the lake. It was interesting to hear the tale of how 30 goats drowned in the lake while crossing from the coast on to the island while running...

The concrete stairs over the main waterfall are no longer, instead they are covered by travertine and have now become part of the scenery. The Galovac waterfall is 25metres high and is the highest...

    3 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you are going to visit National Park Plitvička jezera (what you must do :)) be sure that you are fit for it. There are a couple of different routs. The shortest is about 2 hours and the longest is about 8 hours. That means a couple of hours of hiking. So be sure to equip yourself with good shoes, comfortable clothes and plenty of drinking water. And enjoy it :)

Fun Alternatives: If you aren't so fit but you don't want to miss this beautiful place there is a way also for you to see it.
Just choose the shortest route and you will find that you can use a tourist boats or tourist buses that are visiting lower lakes. But one part of lane you will need to walk also - so comfortable shoes, plenty of water and go on.
