This is a metropolitan city, so along with that goes the endless string of vehicles that are trying to get through the city going someplace. There is the autohighway above the city, but it is a about 1 1/2 miles up to it, and if you need to get to the city, the main route is E65 going along the top part of the city, but you still need to take a street to get downtown. E8 is the designated route along the harbor edge. The irony is big trucks try to get through the parking lot at the harbor to pickup/drop off goods to ships. It is a site to see, where they go about 5 feet every minute trying not to scrape a vehicle. It really is tight and car double park in the lot besides

WARNING ...sometimes during the year there is GAIL FORCED WINDS , that are over 160km-h ,
on those days its not safe to got out on a boat , check daily forcast , the are NORTH winds called BURA in CROATIAN ,

Parking is not easy in Rijeka. Police is actively towing out cars that are illegally parked. Do not park anywhere like this guy. Luckily for him, he arrived just when his car was only one meter above the ground and the tow man in charge of the crane accepted to release him. Ten seconds later, it would have been too late !
There is a large parking lot in the delta and though it is often full, there is enough turnover to hope to get a parking space after waiting some time.

The pigeons have taken over some areas, and they congregate always on monuments, leaving their deposit. It is not a nice site, and maybe not much can be done, but eradicate them, or no feeding them

The Trsat castle and town is about 400 feet up there. You can take the 561 steps for exercise, of take buses 1 or 1A to the top

ice-cream, gelato, ice ; in this area you may have ice-cream of an outstanding quality and not expencive.
