by acemj Well, if you visit my Split page, you'll see that my nightlife was tumultuous at times in Croatia, but if you stay in areas where there are plenty of people (which won't be a problem from June through August) and you won't have a problem. In Dubrovnik, I spent a lot of time just exploring the streets and stopping at interesting looking pubs and bars. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

before the crowds come in by call_me_rhia Tkalciceva Ulica - is an area (or better a street) where everything seems to happen. It's a long pedestrian street covered with bars and pubs galore, and crowded by lots of young people having fun, drinking, eating... Basically it seemd like the place to go out... to see peopel and be seen - yet at the same time it did not seem like a posh place. I had a brilliant time there.
informal, luckily. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingAddress: Tkalciceva UlicaDirections: in the old town

the street that doesn't exist by call_me_rhia Bourbon Street is an important street in DUbrovnik - especially if you are into drinking and pub crawling. You can ask anyone for it, they all know it, but this street sign, you will never see it. Why? because it doesn't exist - by this name at least. Ok, the actual name is Sagrestana Street, i think... but ask someone for it, and you'll be getting blank stares! The bars in the area are lively and fun! A great place for partying!

We haven't been out much at night. After being on the run all day we mostly enjoyed a nice dinner and/or staying at home, reading or writing postcards. Thus you find some "different" nightlife tips here. Number one is "The most beautiful sunset". We saw the most beautiful sunset from the sea organ in Zadar (See "Must See Activities" for more information about this amazing spot!). The steps are build into the riva in the right direction to see the sun set. We sat here for something like an hour seeing the sky turning more dramatic with every minute. I had heard that this is what you do in Zadar in the evening, still we were alone here most of the time. Wonderful! Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: At the northern end of Riva in Zadar

The view from the red room by blint The red room is indeed a large red room with a funky cool atmosphere suitable for young people. Apart from the stools at the bars the other seats are sofas and puffs which makes for a comfortable night. The only downsides are that it is way more expensive than most bars (Kilkenny 40 kuna) and that it can be hard finding a seat due to popularity.
Everyone was well dressed and trendy here (not tartishly though). Leave a Comment Theme: People WatchingAddress: Caparina PolianaDirections: In the palace grounds

by acemj While Croatia is more well-known for its cafe culture, you'll also find some great, smoky and old pubs and bars. A decent local beer to try is called Ozujsko, and believe it or not, I had some good Croatian wines too. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and Drinking

We loved Dubrovnik in the evenings for several reasons. First of all it's not that hot anymore. Then the cruise tourists are back on their boats and many day trippers left the old town again. Plus the city looks beautiful when lit up at night. Too bad I had forgotten to bring my tripod. If you have one, don't forget to take yours! Our favourite spot at night was the terrace of Restaurant Poklisar at the old port. In the evenings there is a piano player here who sounds like he has been working on a cruise ship for too long. My Way, New York, New York, Hey Jude and Moon River are only a few of the gems from his repertoire. It's very touristy and pure kitsch but I loved it! We came here every night for at least a drink...
Take a jacket. It might get a little fresh in the evening... Leave a Comment

by blint It's warm, inviting, interesting and filled with photos. A great place to have a coffee in the afternoon or go out at night. I ordered a lovely fresh lemon juice and a cokolada (hot chocolate) which were both delicious. The hot chocolate was soooo thick and creamy; way better than the hot chocolate in Britain or Spain! Warning: You may want to spend a lot of time in this bar!!! We sat upstairs which I think is the most interesting part of the bar/café

El Don by blint It looks like an old wine cellars with arched stone walls and roof. Apart from Don Quixote, a bull fighting poster and the Sangre de Toro wine not much else was particularly Spanish. Well, sometimes they played some good old cheesy Spanish pop too. It has a chilled atmosphere suitable for all, where the music isn't too loud so you are able to talk.
