Packing for October.

by A2002

It gets a bit cold sometimes, so a jacket or a cardigan would do.Usually I wear a sleeveless shirt or tee, when it gets a bit cold and windy, I just put on a cardigan. Bring as many rolls of film for the beautiful scenery... click and click and click.Or bring all the compact flash or memory cards that you have for those beautiful pictures.

Moccasins, or gymnastics tennis to...

by diamond7

The pebbles of some beaches can be uncomfortable to the feet. Many persons use moccasins to walk on the beach and going to water. So, it’s better you pack moccasins, or gymnastics tennis, to warn this case.

Larger or smaller clothes?

by matcrazy1

.I recommend you to pack larger or... smaller clothes then you used to wear. Why?There are at least 2 reasons:1. Eating/food in Croatia is delicious and you may catch EA (eating addiction), if you choose not low-fat food be prepared to get a few kilograms/pounds = take larger clothes.2. Croatian food is usually low-fat eating (fish, many vegetables/fruits) so be prepared to get off a few kilograms/pounds. And Croatian beaches are a paradise for early morning jogging lovers. Instead you can practice crazy dancing all nights there = take smaller clothes..

Can you say Hawaiian Tropic?

by Venturingnow

Oh my gosh, bring some sunscreen or you will get torched. The whole country feels like it doesn't have an o-zone layer. One day I was baking on some rocks outside of Hvar Town, by the time I woke up I was barely able to move and I had some funny looking handprints on my body. SPF 60! For photo equiptment, I had a lot of success with a polarizing filter here because of the heavy sun and lightly colored skies. Sunsets are prominent, so a neutral density filter may prove useful too.

Always - bags that be locked. If not moving constantly - suitcase or fold bags are good. Since I was on the coast...even in the summer it was nice to have a jumper/cardigan to wear. Comfortable shoes for walking and low heels for dinner times. If you need certain medications..I suggest come with them. Hours of operations and pharmacias are different all over the world. Come Prepared & stocked. Good to have Tylenol, some band aids, and bug cream. Toiletries - easily available. I took extra film with me and it saved me time. Swimsuits (although beaches were topless)your choice. Good to have beach footwear...ie tevas but vendors are there to sell.

If you are going to be there for a while and are catering for yourself it might be an idea to take tinned food with you - tins are very expensive in Croatia. If travelling in the summer take an umbrella - summer is usually very hot but the cloud bursts are increadible! Winter gets extremely cold so pack your thermals.
