Podgora has a long beach that runs the length of the waterfront walkway. The beach is a pebble beach, as is the case along the whole of Croatia's coastline, as far as I know.
There are also a few great places to get away from the crowd if you go around the corner at one end of the street towards the forest/park, and also a great hidden area just past the boat docks on the other end of the street.
Anywhere you are, the water is clean, clear and warm, and there is no better place to swim, in my opinion, than in warm wavy sea water!
