Restaurant PAVILJON is situated in the heart of the city of Zagreb. It is one of the Zagreb's most prestigious reaustorants offers an extraordinary atmosphere. The restaurant is well known for its international cuisine, Europen in a first place. Take note, it's one of the most expensive restaurants in the town but you wont regret the money you spend here.

All: Various Influences

by urbangorilla

Croatia has a cuisine heavily influenced by its neighbours. There are great dishes originating from Turkey, as well as the all too popular Italian. In general it seems that nearly all restaurants have basically the same menu. You've basically a choice of pizza, pasta, seafood varieties, and a number of the more 'local' ones such as Chevapi (excuse my spelling). I pretty much survived on the latter which consists of meat dumplings usually served with fries and salad. Very good to with a local Pivo (beer) such as Karlovacko. The seafood in Croatia is also excellent apparently (however I am no seafood fan - thus have no opinion).

Licka Kuca: Restaurant with atmosphere in Plitvice

by galy

After a full day hiking through the park, it's great to land in the Licka Kuca restaurant.the place, with a huge, open-air wood-fired grill, has a wonderfully dark, smoky atmosphere that feels as rustic and idyllic as the park itself.Although the restaurant is huge, it is devided to some spaces, so you don't feel like in large place.Service is good and attentive. Barbecued Lamb. The dish is offerd by weight, and a portion of about 350 grams is pletiful for the hungry mouth. If you arive late in the evening (after 20:30) you might discover they are out of it, due to hungry tourist groups filling the restaurant.

We didn´t often go to...

by Dudytka

We didn´t often go to restaurants, only once which was a local (there was only one) restaurant-whatever-you-wanna-call-it and food was traditional since it is cooked by the people who live in Lubenice. Simply: meat-lamb and potatoes, pretty oily. I didn´t like it (i am a vegetarian:)). There was no other choice. But you would love the warm atmosphere in these pubs. And they have delicious wine. This picture shows the Lubenice square and the small house on the right is the pub.

UBIQUITOUS: PIZZA AND ICE CREAM

by slawekjb

IF FRUTTI DI MARE IS YOUR THING YOU DON'T WANNA GO TO CROATIA (OR PREPARE YOURSELF TO SPEND HUGE SUMS OF MONEY FOR A SMALL SAMPLE OF WHAT SHOULD BE SEE FOOD...) CROATIANS DON'T SEEM TO EAT OUT MUCH AND RESTAURANTS CATER MOSTLY TO UNSUSPECTING TOURISTS (OR FOOLS) WHO ARE EXPECTED TO PAY PREMIUM FOR VERY LITTLE IN RETURN. IF YOU DRINK BEER DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON ANY OTHER BRAND THAN OJUSKO (UNLESS YOU LIKE CORONA). IF YOU ENJOY EXTRMELY DRY WINE YOU ARE IN LUCK - OTHERS ARE NOT. GREAT ICE CREAMS EVERYWHERE. LOCAL "CAVAPCICI" IS GOOD - SOMETHING I CALL THE "CROATIAN BURGER" ($ 5.00) BELOW YOU SEE THE PRICE FOR AN AVERAGE MEAL. ONE FOOTNOTE: PRICES FOR FOOD SEEM TO BE ALMOST IDENTICAL REGARDLESS OF THE STANDARD OF A PLACE. CURIOUS THING. IT WILL BE SOMETHING OF A RARE THING TO FIND A PLACE WITH GREAT FOOD/PRICES -ALL OVER CROATIA. THERE ARE SOME-FEW EXEPTIONS TO WHAT I'VE WRITTEN ABOVE.

PIZZERIA VENEZIA: RAB town: very good italian food, just in centre

by diamond7

This is my favourite pizzeria in Rab town. The quantity and taste are really the best I had find in this town.Example of prices:- bolognese spaghet - 32 kunas (4.30 Euro)- pizza mista - 34 kunas (4.60 Euro) I prefer the pastas, but the pizzas are very good, too.

Various: More than just seafood

by acemj

In Zagreb in particular, the food seems a little more Central European in influence. There are heavy dishes such as this Zagreb Steak (fried steak) and rich pastries such as Kremsnita, which is a delicious, custard-based treat that can be found at any slasticarnica (pastry shop).

Various: Seafood aplenty

by acemj

Croatia is awesome for seafood and not only on the coast. There is a great market in Zagreb that has fresh fish delivered early each morning, so show up early. I ate some incredible fish in both Split and Dubrovnik.

Konoba vina teraca: Seafood eat food

Cosy with very friendly waiters and great seafood dishes. Waiter might overdo the flirty routine for the ladies. Having said that I fell for the girl with balloon sitting on the steps outside and she was about 9.

Restaurants

by JLBG

On a whole you will never be deceived by Croat restaurants. They will range from medium to good but, unless you have a good tip, you will seldom find a great variety of dishes, at least on coastal towns. All restaurants will serve salads, grilled meat (very good and tasty) : raznici, cevapcici, plejskavica, etc… But you will be very lucky if you find "punjene paprika" (stuffed pepper), "sarma" (stuffed cabbage) or even "musaka", Sea food is usually very good and fresh but fish and shellfish are expensive. Squid (lignje) are not too expensive and you will not be disappointed with grilled squid. If you see a porklet roasting on a skewer, you should stop and taste. It's one of the tastiest meal you will encounter !Don't miss the ham (prsut), its is excellent, in Dalmacia as well as in Istria.
